Today, June 8th 2010, at the University Board meeting, with a secret ballot, in one round of voting, the South East European University (SEEU) Board, selected Prof. Dr. Zamir Dika to lead the  University for the next four years. The new Rector succeeds the first Rector of SEEU, academician Alajdin Abazi, who for two terms led successfully this unique institution of higher education in Macedonia.

The procedure for appointment was implemented in line with SEEU Statute.
The advertisement for the new SEEU Rector was open until February 26th 2010, and included clear criteria for this position: teaching-scientific title – Full Professor recognized at the national level, managerial experience (if possible gained at a higher education institution) and enthusiastic approach for developing SEEU’s mission.  Advantage was given to candidates who have a good knowledge of the languages used at the University: Albanian, Macedonian and English.
