Decision:

This program involves a multidisciplinary approach to broadening and deepening, i.e. differentiation of education within the legal-political-economic and legal studies in the second cycle.

These are studies that are built from 3 modules that fall within the scope of contemporary international legal studies.

Modules that are provided are:

  1. International law;
  2. International Relations;
  3. International Business Law;

At a time of world globalization, which is the main driver of global integration processes, it is crucial to recognize the importance of these international flows which are representatives of foreign and internal drivers of public policies and programs which dynamics are based on international law and international relations. These legal and political relations are implemented in international business that builds alliances and makes conflicts within national and international frameworks. Given the growing importance of these areas and trends to our country and its involvement in these global integrations, the program is designed to have the capacity to respond to these emerging needs of the country.

After completion of this study program students will be able on the basis of acquired knowledge and skills to work in the national institutions that implement the law, especially international law, international business law and international relations, and international institutions and organizations, which require this kind of professional education and skills from their staff. Students that will focus on international law have the possibility of continuing education in the national legal system and practicing of the national law.

  • Shows knowledge and understanding of the scientific field of study (or studies), which builds on the first cycle, using appropriate methodologies to solve complex problems, in a systematically and creative way, which provides a basis or opportunity for originality in developing and / or application of autonomous ideas in the context of the research;

  • Displays a high level of professional competence in one or more specific scientific fields; has knowledge of one or more subject areas in given scientific fields, based on renowned international scientific research in this field.

  • Ability to synthesize and integrate knowledge;
  • Ability to deal with complex issues systematically and creatively to evaluate even with incomplete or limited information, to include personal, social and ethical responsibilities in the application of knowledge and assessment;

Semester 1

  • [6 ECTS] Contemporary Issues of International Law
    The purpose of this course is to present the international public law, which covers the principles and rules that govern relations between states and interactions between them, and between the States with other international actors. This course is designed to give students a global understanding of the rules governing international relations and, ultimately, to provide practical skills of legal reasoning and arguing, researching and writing on international affairs.

  • [6 ECTS] International Relations and Globalization
    The course offers a historical review of the development of the initial international relations and ideas of international relations from the early 20th century and their analysis by the daily functioning of the international organizations, to the latest trends in international relations and globalization.

Semester 2

  • [6 ECTS] Research Methodology
    The course objective is to present research methodology through the analyses of how methods can be applied to research problem, how can one make a research project outline as a student, to critically address the relationship between theoretical framework, methodological approach, research question and analyzes. The essential purpose is to enable the students to independently develop research projects
  • [6 ECTS] International Institutions
    This course covers theoretical issues in relation to international institutions of universal and regional levels, their historical development, functions and role of responsibilities. Special attention is paid to the question of their role in solving collective problems and issues in global politics. The focus is placed on their role in the area of peace and security, economic development, human rights, democracy and the rule of law. The focus is on the main bodies within the institutions responsible for implementing these goals.
  • [6 ECTS] Humanitarian Law
    Throughout the course, participants will be guided by the overarching question: "Is war amenable to regulation by law and, if it is, to what extent and in what way is it so amenable?" Participants will also acquaint themselves with the historical and conceptual backgrounds to man's efforts to control belligerent conduct. The course then analyses the law concerning armed hostilities, including its fundamental principles and specific prohibitions. Emphasis is placed on the process through which general normative propositions translate themselves into concrete rules and standards. Participants discuss victim protection and assistance, as well as the application of international humanitarian law in civil wars. A review of various means of implementation concludes the course's substantive component.

Semester 3

  • [6 ECTS] International Criminal Law
    The course offers analyses and looks at the history and background of international criminal law: developments in Versailles after the First World War, the Nuremberg and Tokyo after the Second World War, in relation to the Balkans and Rwanda in the Cold War and since. The course focuses on four core crimes defined in the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide and aggression), as well as recent discussions about the crime of torture and terrorism. The course will study the major parts of international criminal law by institutional arrangements - the ICC and ad hock and "hybrid" tribunals - and procedural issues, including immunity. Also, investigates the matter and complicity in international crimes by corporations.
  • [6 ECTS] Diplomatic and Consular Law
    The course provides an overview of the diplomatic and consular rights law, its historical development, practice cases concerning the application of these rules, the scope of diplomatic and consular agents who practice diplomacy, issues surrounding the implementation of the diplomatic and consular power in national systems. The course also analyze and study the principles of the international law, their application and the application and impact of the same on interstate political relations, and the use of diplomatic relations in international conflicts. The course will concentrate on the formal conditions for the functioning of these two professions (diplomat and consul) based on diplomatic and consular law.
  • [6 ECTS] International Human Rights
    This course offers a philosophical, legal and political perspectives of human rights. After a brief historical introduction to the international law of human rights, the course investigates the international human rights treaties, courts and institutions. Next, it turns its attention to human rights topics such as the theory- covering some contemporary philosophical theories of human rights. The last section examines the human rights problems and controversies, such as economic and social rights, group rights and cultural relativism.

Semester 4

  • [30 ECTS] Master Thesis
    This module enables students to transfer their skills and knowledge to research and make more complex task of Master-Thesis. The module is designed to be fully practical and students to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to approach writing the paper. The module has unique return result-to enable students to write the master thesis with minimal difficulties, and with maximum efficiency. The course aims to improve research techniques and style of writing paper, taking account to stop illegal means, such as plagiarism and infringement of copyright, which are prohibited by the Statute of SEEU.
