SEEU participates in NATO Disaster Exercise in Ohrid

Exercise “NORTH MACEDONIA 2021”, co-organised by NATO’s Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Centre (EADRCC) and the Crisis Management Centre of North Macedonia, will be conducted from 20 to 23 September 2021 in the area of Ohrid and Struga, North Macedonia.



The event is also attended by the Rector of SEEU, Acad. Prof. Dr. Abdylmenaf Bexheti, in the VIP part of the guests, which is also attended by the Assistant Secretary General for Operation of NATO, John Manza; the Minister of Internal Affairs of North Macedonia, Oliver Spasovski; and other important guests. Rector Bexheti will have a working dinner, where the research capacities of the University will be discussed in particular.

Moderator of the VIP symposium was the Director of the Max van der Stul Institute, Prof. Dr. Veli Kreci.

As researchers, within the NICS project (Next Generation Incident Command System), participate professors of the Faculty of Contemporary Sciences and Technologies, Visar Shehu, Adrian Besimi, Agron Çaushi and students Shqipe Alii and Ali Sulejmani .

SEEU researchers will present systems developed by them in the field of augmented virtual reality, the use of drones in emergency situations and three-dimensional terrain modelling.

The purpose of this activity is to strengthen the capacities of NATO member countries, how to act together in case of disasters.

Rescue teams from many NATO countries are taking part in the event.
