#ECONLIT2023 – The economy of the Western Balkans faces a shortage of qualified labor force

"Economic literacy: The necessary skill of the 21st century", was the topic presented by the Rector of the South East European University, Acad. Prof. Dr. Abdylmenaf Bexheti, at the #ECONLIT2023 conference, dedicated to Economic Education, which was organized by the Liberal Alternative Institute in cooperation with the Economic Fundamentals Initiative from the USA, which was held on Saturday (February 18, 2023), in Tetovo.

"The biggest problem that today's economy has and not only in our country, but also the economy of the Western Balkans and Europe, is the lack of a qualified labor force according to the requirements of the labor market. Therefore, economic knowledge, with today's information systems, should be created early i.e., in high schools, for which the curricula should change", said Rector Bexheti, among other things, in the capacity of keynote speaker of the conference.

The purpose of the conference was to promote greater understanding of economic concepts and to support the development of effective interventions for economic literacy in RNM.

Principals of high schools, representatives of public educational institutions and economic experts participated in the conference.
