The Rector of South East European University, Acad. Prof. Dr. Abdylmenaf Bexheti, said that the idea of promotion and action for environmental protection in the University is much earlier, since 2008, when the Climate Action Plan was approved. Many of the activities that are carried out even nowadays are foreseen in that plan.
Rector Bexheti thanked the representatives of the US Embassy, the Academy of Sciences and Arts, and Minister Nuredini, for their support and cooperation in all phases of preparation and delivery of the study program in question.
"The idea was to meet in one place policymakers, diplomats, science representatives and interested parties who are involved in this cooperation to discuss future steps and wider promotion of the study program. Our goal is to be a concrete contributor to various social processes at the local level, but also globally. The study program presents multidisciplinary and inter-institutional synergy and in this regard we believe that we will create a good human capital base in this regard” said in his presentation the rector Acad. Prof. Dr. Abdylmenaf Bexheti.
The Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning, Naser Nuredini presented regarding the environmental legislation and the steps that the Government is taking for the protection of the environment.
“This process is very important, because we as a Government can pass many laws, but their implementation encounters concrete difficulties on the ground. We all believe in the green agenda and for this there is a lot of funding, but we need qualified staff. I am very pleased with this cooperation, which at SEEU starts at the right time", said among others the Minister of Environment, Nuredini.
Political and Economic Officer of the US Embassy, presented the global climate negotiations, the history and the way forward in these negotiations.
“Climate change is being observed everywhere, and the time to influence the improvement of the situation given as a warning by scientists has been for a period of twelve years. We have spent 9 years and there are the last 3 years left when we can influence and make decisions for the future of the planet", said Moffat.
On the topic "Energy and Climate Change", presented the representative of MASA, Aleksandar Dedinec, and on the topic "Environmental and Climate Sustainability", presented the State Adviser on Climate Change, Teodora Obradovic - Grncarovska.
