The award ceremony of Macedonia’s National Essay Challenge that is organized fourth year in a row in partnership among the SEEU Language Centre, the National Association of English Teachers (ELTAM) and Peace Corps Macedonia, was held on Friday, March 4, 2016 at the Peace Corps Macedonia premises in Skopje. The winners were given certificates by the US Ambassador, H.E. Jess Baily, who also expressed his satisfaction with the contest and his gratitude to the South East European University for the support and contribution in promoting the English language teaching in the country and supporting events of this kind. Besa Bytyqi, the SEEU Language Center representative, presented the gifts to the winners. Students from private and state schools in Macedonia wrote essays on the topic: “What is the importance of volunteerism in your country and its impact on the world?”
“One of the importances is that we unite people from diverse backgrounds to work toward a common goal. It brings people together. Volunteering promotes personal growth and self-esteem. You can make a difference, since every person counts.” – said Besa Bytyqi among her remarks at the event.
