The Rector of the South East European University, in his address speech, emphasized that SEEU successfully continues its journey as a unique tri-lingual University, with 40 undergraduate and second-cycle study programs, 2 specialist programs and 12 graduate-cycle study programs third, with a total of over 4000 active students.
“Through continuous restructuring of programs, this number will be significantly consolidated, focusing on new programs in line with labor market requirements. I consider that the academic "depth" of learning is much more important than the "breadth" of programs and profiles”, said Rector Bexheti. In addition to the achievements, he also announced concrete investments in infrastructure and renewable energy.
“Although the world has been in a continuous crisis for about three years, our investment plans will reach their peak next year with the replacement of the next generation of computers (about 350) and the strengthening of the network. After six years of use, the entire Data Center, including the back-up system, is expected to be replaced. In the first months of 2023, investments continue in the photovoltaic park with over 5.000 square meters of roofs of administrative buildings and student dormitories with an installed capacity of over 1 MWh that exceeds by 20% the consumption needs of the University Campus in Tetovo to compensate for the needs of the campus in Skopje. With this, we will not only be able to become energetically independent, but also climatically an absolute reducer of CO2”.
In this regard, Rector Bexheti, said that the motivation and financial support of the academic staff for research and publications, together with applied and scientific projects, is in relative proportion to over 7% of the annual SEEU budget, of which 3% is from the Individual Fund for Research and publications in journals, and for participation in relevant scientific conferences.
“We will continue with commitment our path for quality standards, flexibility towards the market and full respect of its requirements, multicultural values, internationalization and permanent digitization, inter-university cooperation in the country and abroad, always based on the principle of coopetition”, said Rector Bexheti, among other things, in his address speech.
The President of the University Board Prof. Dr. Klaus Tochtermann, also gave a speech on the occasion, who congratulated all the employees, who have worked for SEEU for 10 or even 20 years.
“Today you all have good reason to be so proud of yourself. And also your families can be proud of you.We honor employees who have worked for SEEU for 10 or even 20 years. Especially in today's fast-moving times, this is a great recognition towards your employer. According to Josiah Royce, an American philosopher, loyalty is "the willing and practical and thoroughgoing devotion of a person to a cause". Loyalty is thoroughgoing in that it is not merely a casual interest but a wholehearted commitment to a cause. Against this background, I am particularly grateful that your loyalty is not only casual, but that you have a passion for SEEU” noted Prof. Tochtermann.
“The fundamental idea of SEEU is to offer a modern and international approach to learning, and to continuously adapt to changes in research and teaching. The basis for this was the unique cooperation between Europe and the USA. At this place we should thank our donors for their continuous support”, said among others President Tochtermann.
During the Ceremony, the Rector and the President of the Board symbolically awarded recognition to employees who completed 10 years of work-- wrist watches, while employees who completed 20 years of work were awarded personalized silver medals.
At the 21st Anniversary Ceremony , the graduated doctoral students were also promoted, a total of 13, to whom Rector Bexheti awarded diplomas and wished them further success in their future journey.
The ceremony was also accompanied by a short artistic program executed by the classical music duo Lulesa Pajaziti and Labinot Abdurahmani.
