The event was declared open by the Rector of the South East European University, Acad. The event commenced with the National Round of Economics Olympiad, where 50 talented students from North Macedonia demonstrated their economic prowess in a competitive environment. Their exceptional understanding of economic principles and analytical thinking showcased the potential of these young minds and provided a glimpse into the future of the field.
The EconlitX Talks, held in a TEDx-style format, became the highlight of the event, captivating the audience with insightful presentations that pushed the boundaries of economic thinking. Esteemed speakers, carefully selected for their expertise, shared their perspectives on diverse economic topics, leaving attendees enlightened and inspired. Prof. Dr. Hyrije Abazi, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics at SEEU, empowered the audience with strategies for achieving economic mastery. Prof. Dr. Visar Vokrri, Program Director at the Reinvest Institute in Kosovo, emphasized the importance of evidence-based policymaking in shaping a sustainable economic landscape. Valdeta Thaci, Director of iLEAD Swiss Institute, provided valuable insights into the journey of successful female entrepreneurs. Durim Zeqiri, Executive Director of OEMVP, highlighted the power of networking for professional growth and unlocking opportunities. Prof. Dr. Gadaf Rexhepi, a member of the National Bank Council of RNM, addressed the barriers to innovation faced by young individuals, offering strategies for overcoming them.
The event further included a thought-provoking panel discussion on the impact of economic education and innovation in fostering sustainable growth and development. Distinguished panelists, including Academic Abdylmenaf Bexheti (Rector of SEEU), Prof. Dr. Alban Hashani (Executive Director of the Reinvest Institute in Kosovo), and Prof. Dr. Jeton Shaqiri (Minister of Education and Science), engaged in a dynamic exchange of ideas.
As the event drew to a close, a grand ceremony honored and awarded the top three students of the regional round from each of the five regions: Kumanovo, Skopje, Tetovo, Gostivar and Struga. The event closed with the announcement of the top five winners of the Economics Olympiad that will represent North Macedonia in the International Economics Olympiad to be held this September in Bratislava, Slovakia. The atmosphere was filled with joyousness and pride as these exceptional individuals were celebrated for their remarkable performance.
The Economics Olympiad event, held at the South East European University in Tetovo, served as a testament to the joint efforts of the Liberal Alternative Institute and the Economic Fundamentals Initiative in promoting economic literacy and inspiring a new generation of economists and innovators.
