SEEU-successful story at the OSCE conference in Vienna

Within the framework of the Conference for marking the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the High Commissioner on National Minorities (HCNM), which was held on Friday (July 7), in Vienna, Austria, the South East European University was a successful story for an institution.

In this conference, the SEEU journey during these years and the success as an institution initiated by the High Commissioner on National Minorities, Max van der Stoel, was presented by the Rector – Acad. Prof. Dr. Abdylmenaf Bexheti, who was main panelist in the panel on the topic: ‘Building long-term social cohesion: experience in integration, critical reflections and new perspectives for the region’.

“Thank you for placing the South East European University among the distinguished institutions that are here today, and thank you for this opportunity to share some thoughts, to look back to our history and most importantly, to look forward to the future that we are building together”, said Rektori Bexheti.

At the opening of the conference, speeches were given by: the Minister of Foreign Affairs of North Macedonia, Bujar Osmani, in the capacity of chairman, the Secretary General of the OSCE, Helga Maria Schmid, the current High Commissioner on National Minorities, Kairat Abdrakhmanov, as well as in the role of the main speaker was Miroslav Lajčák, is the EU Special Representative for the Belgrade-Prishtina Dialogue and other Western Balkan regional issues.

The conference was organized by the High Commissioner on National Minorities and the Permanent Delegation of North Macedonia to the OSCE.
