"Higher Education and SEEU between today and the future", was the topic of the presentation of the Rector Acad. Prof. Dr. Abdylmenaf Bexheti, who simultaneously presented his vision for the future of the University.
Rector Bexheti, in his presentation, focused on the key points of the University's development and on the main challenges facing SEEU. He elaborated in detail about the environment in which we operate as a higher education institution, emphasizing the vision and strategy of the European Universities Association-EUA which is "University without walls". "According to this vision, universities should be open, transformative and transnational, Sustainable, diverse and engaged, strong, autonomous and accountable. However, currently in the educational environment in North Macedonia, these trends are against EU policies", emphasized Rector Bexheti.
Regarding the position of SEEU, Rector Bexheti emphasized that the University is following the trend of continuous transformation, updating the offer of new study programs in accordance with the demands of the labor market.
"By the end of the new academic year, it is expected that there will be statutory changes and the establishment of the faculty, that of Technical Sciences. SEEU has a stable financial position and has a policy of continuous investments. The students will start the new academic year with laboratories with about 300 new computers," Rector Bexheti said, among other things, in his presentation.
During the training, current topics were discussed, which were presented by trainers from the relevant fields and which aroused interest from the staff present.
Raising awareness about the positive and negative sides of AI aimed at keeping the pace with digital competences of new generations of students was one of the issues discussed during the training on topic: Artificial Intelligence in Education: challenges and opportunities. The academic and administrative staff also had the opportunity to follow the presentation related to the identification and prevention of all cases of soft corruption in higher education, as well as the contribution to all activities in SEEU in terms of promoting ethical behavior in education. On the topic “Boosting Individual and institutional research capacity and profile” presented internationally recognized expert, Prof. Anthony Gould.
During the second day of the training, important topics for the Interpersonal and socio-cultural profile of a contemporary educator will be addressed, as well as how to become a leader of an academic and entrepreneurial project.
