Developed in a strategic partnership between the Strategers Institute, as the leading partner, and the Max van der Stoel Institute, SEEU, the initiative has been awarded support under the Call for Proposals “Strengthening Public Engagement and Communication on the Road to EU Membership.” This project is part of the broader support to the European integration of North Macedonia framework, coordinated by UNOPS and the Ministry for European Affairs, with the support of Sweden and Switzerland.
REUFORM aims to strengthen the capacities of civil society organizations, media professionals, and youth to engage meaningfully in the EU integration process. By combining the academic expertise of SEEU with the strategic reach of the Strategers Institute, the project seeks to enhance evidence-based policy dialogue, improve public communication on reforms, and foster informed citizen participation. A structured, module-based approach will be utilized to build essential analytical, advocacy, and monitoring capacities among key societal actors. The project’s core objectives include: (i) strengthening knowledge and understanding of EU policies and accession-related reforms; (ii) enhancing the ability of stakeholders to critically address disinformation and promote information integrity; (iii) fostering cross-sectoral dialogue between civil society, media, academia, and institutions; and (iv) contributing to increased transparency, accountability, and public trust in democratic processes. By supporting these objectives, REUFORM contributes to North Macedonia’s alignment with EU standards and the advancement of participatory and inclusive governance. This approach ensures that the university’s academic contribution directly supports the national journey toward European integration.
A central focus of the initiative is the delivery of specialized units designed to enhance evidence-based policy dialogue and strengthen public communication on reforms. This systematic, modular framework provides the foundation for sharpening professional skills, ensuring that participants are equipped for informed and effective participation. Through this targeted capacity-building, cross-sectoral collaboration, and the generation of policy-oriented outputs, the partnership between the Strategers Institute and SEEU contributes to increased transparency and closer alignment with European standards.
This project represents a continuation of SEEU’s longstanding commitment to engaging in and supporting international initiatives. By actively participating in REUFORM, SEEU reaffirms its dedication to fostering cross-border collaboration, advancing knowledge exchange, and contributing to projects that strengthen North Macedonia’s European integration process. The initiative underscores the university’s strategic role in facilitating impactful, evidence-based, and internationally recognized interventions in the region.
