The International Conference Prospects and State of Today’s Sociolinguistics was held at SEEU

The SEEU Rector, Prof. Dr. Zamir Dika, in his speech, in the opening of the conference among other things said “Debates like this one today contribute to the linguistic communication within a community and different communities; and proves the old saying of our distinguished scholar Eqrem Çabej the place that the Albanian people took through the centuries in the shores of the Adriatic and the Ionian Sea, have determine the historic fate of its language and culture”.

The Conference was greeted by the Dean of the Faculty of Languages, Cultures and Communication, Benjamin Keating. He highly appreciated the conference, by saying that "the language is the hallmark of each one of us and regarding that which language we speak, others recognize us from where we come from”.

Academician Emil Lafe, in his speech said "I am honoured to be in the centre of the Albanian knowledge and culture. This University is an example for other universities for the importance that gives to science and scientific research”

Regarding the topic of the conference spoke Prof. Dr. Zeqir Kadriu, Prof. Dr.Mustafa Ibrahimi, Prof. Dr. Hamit Xhaferi, Prof.Dr Vebi Bexheti and Mr. Demush Bajrami.

Conference continued its works in plenary sessions, where participants presented their papers.
