  The course aims to: - To familiarize students with the historical development of the law and the State, and the main legal and social notions. - To gain knowledge about the historical development of the legal opinion in a way that students can understand legal opinions in the past and present. - To make students to be able to distinguish socio- legal formations in the past and to understand their evolution. - To enable students to gain knowledge about the historical development of specific parts of positive law (civil, criminal, administrative, family and inheritance law, etc). - To enable students to understand the logic of functioning of the State and the law in ancient civilizations and in the Middle Ages and to create ideas by connecting them with modern times.

  - Students gain basic knowledge about the law and the State; - Enabling students to acquire theoretical knowledge related to the various forms of the State; - Critical review of the law as a social phenomenon; - Encouraging analytical review of students related to the problems now facing the State and the law in terms of globalization and European integration; - At the end of the course students will be able to distinguish the basic forms of the State and the law; - To explain the basic notions of the State and the law and their connection with real life; - To gain a basic, introductory and general knowledge of the State and the law that will be needed for their further studies in general legal sciences;

  The course’s purpose is to provide the basic knowledge of legal writing and justification to the first year students of Legal studies and Criminalistics and Security studies. In this course knowledge for the legal writing and reasoning principles and basic guidelines for it will be gained by applying the various methods of legal writing of normative legal acts (regulations, laws, decisions, judgments, contracts, wills etc.) and acts (CV, claim, competition, application, notification, plaint etc.). This course is more than necessary for Law students. They have to take advantage of the proper legal writing skills and the proper reasoning of what they are writing legally, because the mastery of legal writing is essential to any lawyer in his upcoming professional work.

  • [BS018] Macedonian Language for Beginners 1
    The programme Macedonian Language for Beginners 1: reading, writing, listening and speaking. Through special exercises and lectures introduction to basic communication in Macedonian language is provided, i.e. introducing, greeting, presentation, enriching vocabulary and write and understand short texts. When we created this program we took into the consideration that students can apply the acquired knowledge further. The material is processed under the principle of combined lectures and exercises, and continuous tasks through which students are actively involved during class and participate with their questions and suggestions.

    The programme Macedonian Language for Beginners 2 includes: reading, writing, listening and speaking activities. In this course the following issues are covered: daily routines, planning activities for the next period, description of persons, places and objects. When we created this program we took into the consideration that students can apply the acquired knowledge further.
  • [MLIL-01] Macedonian Language Intermediate Level 1
    The curriculum for Macedonian Language intermediate level 1 includes: reading, writing, listening and speaking through which the students: will enrich the vocabulary through appropriate texts for daily activities (in a bank, in a library, in a ministry, etc.) and will improve the skills for professional writing and speaking that are necessary for clear and effective communication in their further professional career. A special, continuous emphasis on the overall activity is placed on the linguistic elements, that is, on the spelling and grammar of the Macedonian standard language. Experts as one of the key elements for good written expression state the correct use of language.
  • [MLIL-02] Macedonian Language Intermediate Level 2
    The curriculum for Macedonian Language intermediate level 2 includes: reading, writing, listening and speaking. Special emphasis is placed on the development of students' communication skills, or the use of language in daily activities and professional context, enriching the vocabulary and acquiring knowledge about the structure and types of professional texts. Different communication styles will be covered, with the goal being for students to establish good communication with the audience through their texts and to attract and retain their attention.

    Upon completion of the course Macedonian for Professional Purposes 1, students are expected to broaden and strengthen their abilities for more advanced written and oral expression in Macedonian in the context of the different professional settings. Students are expected to be able to read, write and comprehend various professional texts in Macedonian. They are also expected to acquire knowledge and skills about the general terminology from the field of law, business and economy, administration, computer sciences, language and communication and to be able to use that terminology in the framework of their future professions. Besides accomplishing these professional aims, students are expected to become more autonomous language learners and be able to think critically about different topics in a multilingual and multicultural environment.
  • [MAPP1020] Macedonian Language for Professional Purposes 2
    Upon completion of the course, Macedonian for professional purposes 2, students are expected to reconfirm and expand further their abilities for advanced written and oral expression in Macedonian, in the context of their future professions. They should be able to read, write and comprehend different kinds of professional texts in Macedonian, to analyse and discuss those texts, as well as to create their own documents, including professional biography in Macedonian (CV). They should also expand the knowledge of specific terminology from the field of law, business and economy, administration, computer sciences, language and communication and be able to use that terminology in simulation of authentic situations from the professional environment, in debates and exchange of opinion regarding different aspects of these professions.

    Albanian Language course for beginners 1, 2 is prepared with the purpose to enable the students, who do not have basic knowledge of the Albanian language, to get to know the characteristics of this language, to gain knowledge of the linguistic structure of the Albanian language, and to extend and apply their knowledge in everyday situations. Correspondingly, they will gain knowledge on the structure of the Albanian language, will overcome a modest set of various lexical and grammatical categories which will enable simple conversations.

    By the end of this course students are expected to be at A1 level of the Common European Framework (CEF) and should be able to understand and use familiar expressions and very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type; ask and answer questions about personal identification and personal relations; students should be able to introduce themselves and others by using pronouns and possessives, use greetings, name things in the classroom, distinguish between singular and plural. Students should be able to describe a typical day, recognize and use simple constructions in order to describe their daily routine; talk and write about their everyday lives, leisure; ask and answer questions about food and drink. students should be able to give dates, use appropriately the vocabulary related to months in the year, make polite requests, describe places; choose a destination and give directions; discuss likes and dislikes.

    By the end of this course students are expected to be at A2 level of the Common European Framework (CEF) and should be able to understand and use correctly expressions and phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type; ask and answer questions about personal relations, describe different jobs, talk and ask about people’s working lives, ask about and describe someone’s job and make appointments. They should be able to talk about events in the past, describe places, travel and personal histories; choose a destination and give directions; to talk about everyday office activities, express obligation, talk about daily journey. They should be able to talk about things and jobs in the house, understand and give advice and express their opinions; discuss likes and dislikes.

    By the end of this course students are expected to be at B1 level of the Common European Framework (CEF) . They should be able to ask and answer questions about university degrees, job skills and situations; invite and respond to invitations. Students should be able to ask about or describe family relationships and marital status and they should be able to recognize and use appropriately vocabulary related to degrees and university education, art, travelling and sport.

    By the end of this course students are expected to be at B2 level of the Common European Framework (CEF); They are expected to be independent users of English language and to implement some of the following language functions: give advice; ask and answer questions about university degrees, job skills and situations; invite and respond to invitations, read and listen for gist, detail and comprehension.

    Upon successful completion of the course, the students’ proficiency level should be at C1 according to Common European Framework. As a result, the students should be able to deliver successfully oral presentation, participate in an online debate/ discussion forum stating their opinion and arguments and give feedback to others in a constructive manner. In addition, the students should be able to listen and read for gist and detail and write an argumentative paragraph and essay stating their opinion. They should write a problem solution paragraph and essay. They should be able to present visual information in a form of Power Point poster presentations for a given topic.

    After completing this course, students will be able to gain appropriate knowledge according to the European Language Framework (specifically and concretely determined by level). In addition, students are expected to become more autonomous and more responsible language learners. By the end of the course, students will be able to think critically and make conclusions about different topics based on the texts that they have read, as well as to express their thoughts and opinions in written and spoken German.
  • [BSIL3010] Italian Language
    The purpose of the course is for students to get acquainted with the Italian culture, the Italian civilization and the Italian language. The idea is for students to know a slightly different reality, which may help them to become aware of themselves, as well as in creating a better picture for themselves and for their future. Corresponding to the level (from A1 to B2), which students choose, or the levels that they will follow in the semesters they have at their disposal for a free elective subject, the matter progresses deeper. The first level starts from basic settings such as: orthography (spelling), pronunciation, vocabulary for managing simple, everyday language situations (personal presentation, presentation of others, orientation in space and in time, communication expressions in a bar, restaurant, supermarket, on the market), and it is reaching more complex constructions in the continuing stages, which refer to the expression of attitude, desire, need, telling past events, talking about future actions, etc. Grammar is introduced inductively (through awareness of situations (audio recordings, videos, films, various texts) and conclusions), in which the students themselves playing the key role, with their active participation in the lectures.

    The purpose of this course is for students to strengthen their language skills and competencies, as well as to develop four communication competencies, particularly in the following areas: • to be able to express an opinion, • to be able to express their feelings, • to understand the essence of an expression, thought or idea, • to be able to argue and defend their opinion. • to manage different situations, • to maintain a simple and coherent speech, • to tell an event, • to talk about a dream or experience, • to present the reasons for a project or idea, • to communicate spontaneously.
  • [EFE-132] Human Rights and Freedoms
    Aims of the course: The struggle for human rights begins with the historic efforts to identify them. Over the time, the corpus of rights and freedoms that are incriminated by laws or international treaties is expanding but it certainly does not prove that the same are respected in practice. Human rights at the first were considered as internal matters of states (under the principle of absolute sovereignty of states) and only in more recent times have gained the title of jus cogens norms. This course will study how to develop doctrine on human rights, types and categories of human rights and will be studied the relevant documents that regulate certain rights. The purpose of this course is: to introduce students to the concept of international law on human rights, implementation of the same, influence in the formulation of national policies; This will encourage students to critically reflect on the relationship between international law and national law; make them aware of current international events, how they affect the daily lives of people in the world; encourage students to contribute in matters of drafting laws for the protection of human rights.
  • [EARTL-01] Assisted Reproductive Technology and Law
    Aims of the course: This course aims to emphasize the fact that in the modern society, there is no one universal, generally accepted model of family and parenting. By studying the subject ‘Assisted reproductive technology and Law’, students will gain knowledge about new artificial reproductive technologies that are part of the contemporary natal policy. In more detail, students will be introduced to all artificial reproductive technologies, such as artificial insemination, in vitro fertilization, surrogate motherhood, the birth of children from a woman with sperm donation, posthumous reproduction, co-parenting, ’three parent’ baby technique, cryopreservation of gametes or embryos. Students will have the opportunity to be informed that there are many other opportunities offered by science but are forbidden, for example, cloning, gender selection, improvement of the physical, intellectual or other capacities (eugenics) of the future child, etc. By studying this course students are expected to develop their critical thinking by debating the complex set of moral, ethical and legal dilemmas regarding these new reproductive technologies.
  • [CCS084] Intercultural Communication
    Having completed this course the students will able to identify global questions and problems from the perspectives of different cultures, the communication dynamics in the other cultures, the similarities and the differences between their values and those of other cultures, as well as the similarities and differences between their communication practices and those from other cultures. In addition, students are expected to become more aware of the stereotypes that society has for different cultures and as a result will better understand their place in the global community. The students will start thinking critically about topics related to their ethnicity, gender identity, class, religion, national origin, age and other demographic characteristics and their impact on the communication process. After finishing, the students will also gain communication skills for working in groups through participation in research projects and will acquire the necessary skills to present their research projects.

    Aim of this course is developing even a simple web page according to current standards, requires knowledge of Hypertext Markup Language (XHTML) and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). Most of the websites also use images, whether in the form of banners, buttons, logos, photos or scans. Adobe Fireworks is built as a tool to create and manipulate images from the web and to allow the makers to optimize these images in order to reduce the file size. Firework also provides an excellent integration with Dreamweaver. This series provides a comprehensive introduction to XHTML, CSS and creating web graphics.

    In this course, students’ academic writing skills will be enhanced in a variety of ways. Students will be enabled to communicate their ideas in a clear, fluent and effective way in order to produce a piece of writing. Students’ academic writing skills will be developed through activities that promote writing like: writing different types of paragraphs and essays. In addition, students will be introduced to paraphrasing and citing rules as well as will be made aware of what plagiarism is. Giving feedback on students’ pieces of writing will involve self-correction, peer-correction and teacher-correction of content, organization and language errors.

    By the end of each level, the students are expected to write an essay and a research paper based on the rules learned during the semester. They will be able to reflect critically on different topics, to make conclusions and they will develop skills for excellent written and oral communication in Macedonian.

    The subject aims at improving and perfecting the expression of Albanian language (speaking and writing). Specifically, the course aims to introduce students to specific terms, the possibilities of its use, with the most common errors in daily speech, but also for communication in specific circumstances. The students will learn about the conditions in which the rules work, so they can use them not only for tasks related to the subject but also in their future profession.
  • [EPEG-01] Practical English Grammar
    This course is intended mainly for intermediate and upper-intermediate students, students who have already studied the basic grammar of English. It concentrates on those structures which the named students want to use, but which often cause difficulty. It can serve both as a basis for revision and as a means for practising new structures. While students expect and need to learn formal rules of a language, it is crucial that they also practice new structures in a variety of contexts in order to internalize and master them. To this end, this course provides an abundance of both controlled and communicative exercises so that students can bridge the gap between knowing grammatical structures and using them.

    Conversational English is a one semester course designed for intermediate-level English speakers and above, and will be available to students in all semesters. English is an international language that facilitates communication in a variety of contexts around the world, ranging from business meetings and transactions to casual conversations between friends and interactions during travel. Conversational English will build students’ listening and speaking skills, providing grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and fluency practice needed for common types of spoken English interactions. This course will cover topics related to professional conversation, casual conversation, and everyday interactions, providing students with conversational confidence in a variety of contexts. Professional conversation will include formal and polite varieties of speech used in contexts such as work meetings or discussions with colleagues. Casual conversation will include practice with language used while socializing with friends or family and other informal situations and will include slang and informal speech. Everyday interactions will include conversations at stores, during travel, and asking for or providing assistance. Methods of learning will focus on practice and will include listening activities, dialogues, role-plays and simulations, debates, and discussions.

    Digital and Online Literacy is a one-semester course meeting 3 class hours per week, offered in the undergraduate studies. The course is designed according to students’ needs and it includes a number of 21st century skills related to using technology appropriately and effectively. The course will encompass the three categories of the 21st century skills. By the end of the course students will be able to search for and access online information successfully using variety of digital tools, critically evaluate the reliability of online resources and distinguishing between credible and untrustworthy sources, demonstrate understanding of ethical issues related to academic context, understand proper referencing in order to avoid plagiarism, learn how to effectively communicate in a professional manner, understand the basics of being safe online and the positive and negative aspects of creating an online identity, investigate cyber bullying and identify possible solutions for reducing online harassment.

    Aims of the course: The main goal is for students to become familiar with the entities of commercial law (trader, sole proprietor, trade companies), connection of trade companies, termination of trade companies (liquidation and bankruptcy), trade agreements, industrial property rights, securities).
  • [ELE-408] Domestic Violence
    Domestic violence is a social phenomenon of wide scale and widespread in contemporary society. It is present in all states and societies regardless of their development and emancipation. Immune to this phenomenon is neither court country nor the region in which we live. Therefore, law students through this course gain knowledge of what is domestic violence, the forms in which it is manifested, the legal arrangements in the country, the region and the international sphere as well as the ways of preventing it. Through this course, students at the end of the course will be able to identify domestic violence, identify criminal offenses that are incriminated in the Criminal Code as domestic violence, and develop critical thinking about this problematic. This course enables the future jurisdiction to handle issues of this sphere of high sensitivity as well as to provide the most adequate assistance and protection for the victims of these criminal offenses in the exercise of his future profession as a judge, prosecutor or lawyer.

    Aims of the course: Cyber security in context will explore the most important elements that shape the playing field on which cyber security problems emerge and are managed. The course will emphasize how ethical, legal, and economic frameworks enable and constrain security technologies and policies. It will introduce some of the most important macro-elements (such as national security considerations and the interests of nation-states) and micro-elements (such as behavioral insights into how people understand and interact with security features). Specific topics include policymaking (on the national, international, and organizational level), legal frameworks (including duties of security, privacy issues, law enforcement access issues, computer hacking, and economic/military espionage), standards making, and the roles of users, government, and industry.

    Aims of the course: By the end of the semester students will be able to:identify their individual rights, specifically those who refer to social media; describe the ways in which new communication technologies are reshaping, and continue to influence, national and international legal order; develop a picture of how social media, internet, television and other communication technologies affect our understandings of law and justice; classify legal issues that companies from different industries may face when integrating social media into their business practices; to recognize the potential positive and negative consequences of their personal presence in the media.

    The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the concepts of business communication.     The course Communication Skills is designed to enable students to practically apply interpersonal communication. Students will have the opportunity to learn interpersonal skills (such as perception, listening, verbal and non-verbal communication); public speaking (such as organization, delivery and the basics of writing public speeches) and small group communication (such as leadership, self-confidence and listening). The course will also focus on providing basic knowledge and understanding of the job hunting process through written and oral communication by doing tasks such as writing a resume and a cover letter, conducting interview simulations etc.

    Students identify and use critical thinking skills, processes and techniques that will assist them in their careers and personal lives.     The course focuses on the development of those communication skills and techniques that are essential for effective functioning in the era of globalization.   Objectives of the course: - Gaining knowledge about concepts, phenomena and institutes of constitutional law and the State institutions in the North Republic of Macedonia (RM) including the various theoretical positions on them; - Gaining specific knowledge on constitutional law as a science and legal branch, including a comparative analysis of the situation and perspectives of the same in regional and European domain; - Through this module students will acquire basic theoretical and practical knowledge about the organization of state power in the RM as well as about the freedoms and rights of man and citizen; - To encourage critical thinking of students about the basic issues related to constitutional order in the NRM as well as in the EU by taking into account the profile of a European lawyer that in the future as an expert will need to interpret and apply the European constitutional law both at national and the European level; - The course will address the relevant issues in constitutional law in a comparative and a national perspective because in an era of globalization, constitutional law can not be understood if considered only in national terms; - The course will also cover: the new Rules of Procedure of the Parliament which has a key role in developing parliamentary democracy in the Republic, the new laws regulating constitutional issues such as the laws related to the judiciary, local government, electoral system, civil society, defence, foreign policy, etc.; - Besides this normative component, the course will also include the practice of the central government bodies in the RM such as the Assembly, the Government, the Constitutional Court, the Supreme Court which play a major role on constitutional law as a science; - It will also include constitutional amendments of 2001 that have a major impact on the “majority democracy” in the NRM and the fundamental values of the constitutional order of the NRM as well as the constitutional amendments of 2005 in connection to the judicial reforms in the NRM; - At the end of the course, students will be able to make fundamental and substantive differentiation between constitutional institutions, their interconnection and their practical operation; - To make the necessary theoretical and practical differentiation of concepts, phenomena and institutes of constitutional law; - To describe and analyze the various processes within the constitutional system and the order of the NRM in all aspects of the constitutional life of the country, which means the life of persons, citizen, state and ethnic communities;

  Тhe Civile law – General part study program aims to provide students with basic knowledge in this area. Upon completion of the semester, students are expected to have acquired theoretical knowledge on the notions and major institutes of civil law such as: the principles of civil law, the sources of civil law, the legal subjects and their legal capacity and capacity to act, the civil legal relations, etc. Students will be trained to make the necessary theoretical and practical differences of notions and phenomena of a juridical character in the NRM legal system, to distinguish their basic and essential characteristics, and to note their importance and function in practice.

    The purpose of the course is for students to get acquainted with the Italian culture, the Italian civilization and the Italian language. The idea is for students to know a slightly different reality, which may help them to become aware of themselves, as well as in creating a better picture for themselves and for their future. Corresponding to the level (from A1 to B2), which students choose, or the levels that they will follow in the semesters they have at their disposal for a free elective subject, the matter progresses deeper. The first level starts from basic settings such as: orthography (spelling), pronunciation, vocabulary for managing simple, everyday language situations (personal presentation, presentation of others, orientation in space and in time, communication expressions in a bar, restaurant, supermarket, on the market), and it is reaching more complex constructions in the continuing stages, which refer to the expression of attitude, desire, need, telling past events, talking about future actions, etc. Grammar is introduced inductively (through awareness of situations (audio recordings, videos, films, various texts) and conclusions), in which the students themselves playing the key role, with their active participation in the lectures.

    Aims of the course: The struggle for human rights begins with the historic efforts to identify them. Over the time, the corpus of rights and freedoms that are incriminated by laws or international treaties is expanding but it certainly does not prove that the same are respected in practice. Human rights at the first were considered as internal matters of states (under the principle of absolute sovereignty of states) and only in more recent times have gained the title of jus cogens norms. This course will study how to develop doctrine on human rights, types and categories of human rights and will be studied the relevant documents that regulate certain rights. The purpose of this course is: to introduce students to the concept of international law on human rights, implementation of the same, influence in the formulation of national policies; This will encourage students to critically reflect on the relationship between international law and national law; make them aware of current international events, how they affect the daily lives of people in the world; encourage students to contribute in matters of drafting laws for the protection of human rights.

    Aims of the course: This course aims to emphasize the fact that in the modern society, there is no one universal, generally accepted model of family and parenting. By studying the subject ‘Assisted reproductive technology and Law’, students will gain knowledge about new artificial reproductive technologies that are part of the contemporary natal policy. In more detail, students will be introduced to all artificial reproductive technologies, such as artificial insemination, in vitro fertilization, surrogate motherhood, the birth of children from a woman with sperm donation, posthumous reproduction, co-parenting, ’three parent’ baby technique, cryopreservation of gametes or embryos. Students will have the opportunity to be informed that there are many other opportunities offered by science but are forbidden, for example, cloning, gender selection, improvement of the physical, intellectual or other capacities (eugenics) of the future child, etc. By studying this course students are expected to develop their critical thinking by debating the complex set of moral, ethical and legal dilemmas regarding these new reproductive technologies.

    Having completed this course the students will able to identify global questions and problems from the perspectives of different cultures, the communication dynamics in the other cultures, the similarities and the differences between their values and those of other cultures, as well as the similarities and differences between their communication practices and those from other cultures. In addition, students are expected to become more aware of the stereotypes that society has for different cultures and as a result will better understand their place in the global community. The students will start thinking critically about topics related to their ethnicity, gender identity, class, religion, national origin, age and other demographic characteristics and their impact on the communication process. After finishing, the students will also gain communication skills for working in groups through participation in research projects and will acquire the necessary skills to present their research projects.

    Domestic violence is a social phenomenon of wide scale and widespread in contemporary society. It is present in all states and societies regardless of their development and emancipation. Immune to this phenomenon is neither court country nor the region in which we live. Therefore, law students through this course gain knowledge of what is domestic violence, the forms in which it is manifested, the legal arrangements in the country, the region and the international sphere as well as the ways of preventing it. Through this course, students at the end of the course will be able to identify domestic violence, identify criminal offenses that are incriminated in the Criminal Code as domestic violence, and develop critical thinking about this problematic. This course enables the future jurisdiction to handle issues of this sphere of high sensitivity as well as to provide the most adequate assistance and protection for the victims of these criminal offenses in the exercise of his future profession as a judge, prosecutor or lawyer.

A special, continuous emphasis on the overall activity is placed on the linguistic elements, that is, on the spelling and grammar of the Macedonian standard language. Experts as one of the key elements for good written expression state the correct use of language.

    The curriculum for Macedonian Language intermediate level 2 includes: reading, writing, listening and speaking. Special emphasis is placed on the development of students' communication skills, or the use of language in daily activities and professional context, enriching the vocabulary and acquiring knowledge about the structure and types of professional texts. Different communication styles will be covered, with the goal being for students to establish good communication with the audience through their texts and to attract and retain their attention.

They are also expected to acquire knowledge and skills about the general terminology from the field of law, business and economy, administration, computer sciences, language and communication and to be able to use that terminology in the framework of their future professions.     Upon completion of the course, Macedonian for professional purposes 2, students are expected to reconfirm and expand further their abilities for advanced written and oral expression in Macedonian, in the context of their future professions. They should be able to read, write and comprehend different kinds of professional texts in Macedonian, to analyse and discuss those texts, as well as to create their own documents, including professional biography in Macedonian (CV). They should also expand the knowledge of specific terminology from the field of law, business and economy, administration, computer sciences, language and communication and be able to use that terminology in simulation of authentic situations from the professional environment, in debates and exchange of opinion regarding different aspects of these professions.

  The course framework includes studying Administrative Material and Procedural Law. It focuses on the principles of organization, operation and scope of the administrative authorities, the main activities that constitute the administrative functions, administrative acts and the relationship between citizens and administration. The objectives of the course consist in that students can: - Define and understand the concepts of administration and administrative functions; - Recognize and analyse the legal framework that governs an organization and functioning of public administration in Macedonia; - Recognize the main activities of the administrative office; - Distinguish between the types of acts of the administration and to adopt the first steps to creating such acts; - Learn the types of administrative supervision; - Recognize mechanisms of control of the administration and its accountability to other state bodies, but also to their clients- users of its services; - Acquire abilities and skills for future employment in the organs of administration of NRM, NGO Institutions and all Institutions that deal with subjects of administrative legal nature.

    The purpose of the course is for students to get acquainted with the Italian culture, the Italian civilization and the Italian language. The idea is for students to know a slightly different reality, which may help them to become aware of themselves, as well as in creating a better picture for themselves and for their future. Corresponding to the level (from A1 to B2), which students choose, or the levels that they will follow in the semesters they have at their disposal for a free elective subject, the matter progresses deeper. The first level starts from basic settings such as: orthography (spelling), pronunciation, vocabulary for managing simple, everyday language situations (personal presentation, presentation of others, orientation in space and in time, communication expressions in a bar, restaurant, supermarket, on the market), and it is reaching more complex constructions in the continuing stages, which refer to the expression of attitude, desire, need, telling past events, talking about future actions, etc. Grammar is introduced inductively (through awareness of situations (audio recordings, videos, films, various texts) and conclusions), in which the students themselves playing the key role, with their active participation in the lectures.

    Aims of the course: The struggle for human rights begins with the historic efforts to identify them. Over the time, the corpus of rights and freedoms that are incriminated by laws or international treaties is expanding but it certainly does not prove that the same are respected in practice. Human rights at the first were considered as internal matters of states (under the principle of absolute sovereignty of states) and only in more recent times have gained the title of jus cogens norms. This course will study how to develop doctrine on human rights, types and categories of human rights and will be studied the relevant documents that regulate certain rights. The purpose of this course is: to introduce students to the concept of international law on human rights, implementation of the same, influence in the formulation of national policies; This will encourage students to critically reflect on the relationship between international law and national law; make them aware of current international events, how they affect the daily lives of people in the world; encourage students to contribute in matters of drafting laws for the protection of human rights.

    Aims of the course: This course aims to emphasize the fact that in the modern society, there is no one universal, generally accepted model of family and parenting. By studying the subject ‘Assisted reproductive technology and Law’, students will gain knowledge about new artificial reproductive technologies that are part of the contemporary natal policy. In more detail, students will be introduced to all artificial reproductive technologies, such as artificial insemination, in vitro fertilization, surrogate motherhood, the birth of children from a woman with sperm donation, posthumous reproduction, co-parenting, ’three parent’ baby technique, cryopreservation of gametes or embryos. Students will have the opportunity to be informed that there are many other opportunities offered by science but are forbidden, for example, cloning, gender selection, improvement of the physical, intellectual or other capacities (eugenics) of the future child, etc. By studying this course students are expected to develop their critical thinking by debating the complex set of moral, ethical and legal dilemmas regarding these new reproductive technologies.

    Having completed this course the students will able to identify global questions and problems from the perspectives of different cultures, the communication dynamics in the other cultures, the similarities and the differences between their values and those of other cultures, as well as the similarities and differences between their communication practices and those from other cultures. In addition, students are expected to become more aware of the stereotypes that society has for different cultures and as a result will better understand their place in the global community. The students will start thinking critically about topics related to their ethnicity, gender identity, class, religion, national origin, age and other demographic characteristics and their impact on the communication process. After finishing, the students will also gain communication skills for working in groups through participation in research projects and will acquire the necessary skills to present their research projects.

    Domestic violence is a social phenomenon of wide scale and widespread in contemporary society. It is present in all states and societies regardless of their development and emancipation. Immune to this phenomenon is neither court country nor the region in which we live. Therefore, law students through this course gain knowledge of what is domestic violence, the forms in which it is manifested, the legal arrangements in the country, the region and the international sphere as well as the ways of preventing it. Through this course, students at the end of the course will be able to identify domestic violence, identify criminal offenses that are incriminated in the Criminal Code as domestic violence, and develop critical thinking about this problematic. This course enables the future jurisdiction to handle issues of this sphere of high sensitivity as well as to provide the most adequate assistance and protection for the victims of these criminal offenses in the exercise of his future profession as a judge, prosecutor or lawyer.

    The course Communication Skills is designed to enable students to practically apply interpersonal communication. The course will also focus on providing basic knowledge and understanding of the job hunting process through written and oral communication by doing tasks such as writing a resume and a cover letter, conducting interview simulations etc.

  The Course Criminal Law (general part) is a compulsory course. In this course students will receive basic knowledge about the criminal justice system of North Republic of Macedonia.   The goals of the course are: students will acquire knowledge about the fundamentals of the Law of obligations and the particular types of obligatory relations. Through the process of education, students will acquire knowledge that they may need in the field of circulation of the civil subjective rights. In the field of the general knowledge on obligations, students will learn the skills needed for the application of the general institutes of the law of obligations in the particular types of obligatory relations. In particular, students will be equipped with the skills of negotiation, of concluding and performing special kinds of obligatory contracts as well as the studying of the mechanisms for the dispute settlement about the fulfillment of debtor obligations. Specially, students should acquire knowledge about ascertaining the extent of the harm and the recovery of loss. Moreover, students will also acquire knowledge about some other types of obligatory relations (unjust enrichment, unilateral declaration of will, etc.).

    The purpose of the course is for students to get acquainted with the Italian culture, the Italian civilization and the Italian language. The idea is for students to know a slightly different reality, which may help them to become aware of themselves, as well as in creating a better picture for themselves and for their future. Corresponding to the level (from A1 to B2), which students choose, or the levels that they will follow in the semesters they have at their disposal for a free elective subject, the matter progresses deeper. The first level starts from basic settings such as: orthography (spelling), pronunciation, vocabulary for managing simple, everyday language situations (personal presentation, presentation of others, orientation in space and in time, communication expressions in a bar, restaurant, supermarket, on the market), and it is reaching more complex constructions in the continuing stages, which refer to the expression of attitude, desire, need, telling past events, talking about future actions, etc. Grammar is introduced inductively (through awareness of situations (audio recordings, videos, films, various texts) and conclusions), in which the students themselves playing the key role, with their active participation in the lectures.

    Aims of the course: The struggle for human rights begins with the historic efforts to identify them. Over the time, the corpus of rights and freedoms that are incriminated by laws or international treaties is expanding but it certainly does not prove that the same are respected in practice. Human rights at the first were considered as internal matters of states (under the principle of absolute sovereignty of states) and only in more recent times have gained the title of jus cogens norms. This course will study how to develop doctrine on human rights, types and categories of human rights and will be studied the relevant documents that regulate certain rights. The purpose of this course is: to introduce students to the concept of international law on human rights, implementation of the same, influence in the formulation of national policies; This will encourage students to critically reflect on the relationship between international law and national law; make them aware of current international events, how they affect the daily lives of people in the world; encourage students to contribute in matters of drafting laws for the protection of human rights.

    Aims of the course: This course aims to emphasize the fact that in the modern society, there is no one universal, generally accepted model of family and parenting. By studying the subject ‘Assisted reproductive technology and Law’, students will gain knowledge about new artificial reproductive technologies that are part of the contemporary natal policy. In more detail, students will be introduced to all artificial reproductive technologies, such as artificial insemination, in vitro fertilization, surrogate motherhood, the birth of children from a woman with sperm donation, posthumous reproduction, co-parenting, ’three parent’ baby technique, cryopreservation of gametes or embryos. Students will have the opportunity to be informed that there are many other opportunities offered by science but are forbidden, for example, cloning, gender selection, improvement of the physical, intellectual or other capacities (eugenics) of the future child, etc. By studying this course students are expected to develop their critical thinking by debating the complex set of moral, ethical and legal dilemmas regarding these new reproductive technologies.

    Having completed this course the students will able to identify global questions and problems from the perspectives of different cultures, the communication dynamics in the other cultures, the similarities and the differences between their values and those of other cultures, as well as the similarities and differences between their communication practices and those from other cultures. In addition, students are expected to become more aware of the stereotypes that society has for different cultures and as a result will better understand their place in the global community. The students will start thinking critically about topics related to their ethnicity, gender identity, class, religion, national origin, age and other demographic characteristics and their impact on the communication process. After finishing, the students will also gain communication skills for working in groups through participation in research projects and will acquire the necessary skills to present their research projects.

    Domestic violence is a social phenomenon of wide scale and widespread in contemporary society. It is present in all states and societies regardless of their development and emancipation. Therefore, law students through this course gain knowledge of what is domestic violence, the forms in which it is manifested, the legal arrangements in the country, the region and the international sphere as well as the ways of preventing it. Through this course, students at the end of the course will be able to identify domestic violence, identify criminal offenses that are incriminated in the Criminal Code as domestic violence, and develop critical thinking about this problematic. This course enables the future jurisdiction to handle issues of this sphere of high sensitivity as well as to provide the most adequate assistance and protection for the victims of these criminal offenses in the exercise of his future profession as a judge, prosecutor or lawyer.

  The purpose of this course program is to provide students with advanced knowledge of the impact of advances in genetics and assistive reproductive technologies on family law, human rights and child rights, including the effects of international treaties on national legislation. Students will also gain knowledge of theoretical, ethical and legal discussions on biotechnology, biomedicine and family law issues as well as the balance between respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms and the need to ensure freedom of research. However, biotechnology does not only affect isolated individuals and their rights, but also the unborn children, the family as the network of life relations and the basic structure of every society, as well as the basis of parenthood and kinship, the social organization as a whole and finally humanity. Special emphasis will be placed on ways of ensuring a balance between the rights and freedoms of the born, but also the birth of human beings and the search for new technologies.

    By studying the course program students will gain knowledge on the basics of intellectual property law and the types of rights and holders of rights. Students through lectures will gain the necessary knowledge to distinguish artists (author, inventor, creator) from holders of the rights (individuals and legal entities), but also to learn which rights belong to them (moral, material, etc.). By acquiring knowledge for the rights that belong to the holders, students will gain practical knowledge on how the trade of intellectual property rights (IPR) is conducted, through which they will understand the significance and economic value of these rights in the world and in our country. Particularly they will acquire information on how to transfer rights, namely contracts for the transfer of IPR - license agreement, cession, franchising, technology transfer, contracts for commissioning of copyright work, contracts for copyrighted work from labor relations etc. As a result of the knowledge gained students will be able to recognize the daily violations of IPR (piracy and counterfeiting). As a logical conclusion of this course students will gain knowledge on the protection of these rights.

General Assembly of the League of Nations adopted a General Act of 1929 for the peaceful settlement of international disputes, which was confirmed by the UN General Assembly in 1949. Regional organizations in nearly every continent establish and develop their systems for the peaceful settlement of disputes. However, there are still many disputes that remain unresolved, and in recent years we have witnessed the most radical attempts to resolve disputes by force - mostly outside the United Nations and the provisions of the Charter of the Organization on peaceful settlement of disputes. The first convention for the peaceful settlement of disputes was adopted at the peace conference in The Hague in 1899, although neither the first nor the second Hague Conference in 1907 failed to set mandatory rules on the peaceful settlement of disputes. Some authors of international disputes divide them into legal and political. Based on these positions, legal disputes are those disputes arising from the proceedings of legislative, judicial and executive branches of the state, its armed forces or individuals living in its territory, as political disputes those resulting from conflicting political interests. Of course, this is all in theory, but in practice it is very difficult to distinguish these cases, or mark them as legal or political. Every political dispute has legal side, as each legal case has political essence.

    Medical criminal law is a special area within the medical law as a separate legal branch in general and a separete criminal law discipline. The science of medical criminal law consists of general and special part. The general section studies the system of medical law, sources, methods, its place in the social and scientific system, criminal law protection of patient’s rights etc. Specific issues, legal aspects of different types of medical interventions are subject to a separate part of this science. These are: the provision of medical care, euthanasia, abortion, medical expertise, medical care, transplantation, medical mistakes, reproductive technologies, cloning, genetic manipulation etc. The medical criminal law inculdes the matter of the status, rights and way of dealing with mentally ill people and generally, the treatment of unoredictable persons, security measures, protection of physical and mental integrity, protection of the right to life, the exclusion of illegality in medical interventions etc.

    This course will acquaint students with basic institutions of international diplomatic and consular law by covering all aspects related to the establishment, maintenance and termination of diplomatic and consular relations on bilateral and multilateral level, in permanent and temporary (ad hoc) form, i.e., establishment, operation and termination of diplomatic, special and consular missions (bilateral), i.e. missions of international organizations and permanent missions in the international organizations (Multilateral).

    Criminality as a negative and dangerous phenomenon for the society is manifested in various forms throughout human historical development. Juveniles in criminal law have always been treated differently from adults, and their legal position has always evolved in their favour. Juvenile delinquents are in close relation with other socio-pathological phenomena, such as: drug addiction, alcoholism and prostitution, phenomena that today are spread in almost every country on earth and are present in Macedonia. Therefore, this course as a basic goal has the treatment of the following: to discover and record new forms of this criminal phenomenon, to explain the reasons for their presence and to suggest measures for their prevention and punishment.

    Through this course the student will have the opportunity to learn more about the types and categories of domestic violence, its incrimination by national legislation and international conventions and the assistance provided to victims of such violence. In the course "domestic violence" the following in more detail is studied: The state of the Macedonian criminal legislation in relation to domestic violence; International trends and documents in this area; The role of NGOs in providing assistance to victims of domestic violence; Situation of domestic violence in domestic jurisprudence.

    The course of organized crime as a new subject aims studying of formats, causes and measures to prevent and fight against organized crime. The purpose of this course is for students to gain knowledge about theories on organized crime, criminal organizations and forms of manifestation of this phenomenon. Besides studying the factors that enable the emergence of organized crime, the researchers on this field should also study the measures to combat and prevent organized crime.

    The main objective of the this course is to study the changes that some European family law institutions have gone through, concepts that are part of the reform of the family law of the legal system of Republic of North Macedonia: Equal Protection for the illegitimate and legitimate children; the increasing number of divorced parents; legal regulation of the extramarital union; same-sex parent families; marriage in the form of registered partnership; property issue of international couples (marriages and registered partnership); the focus of the Family Law on the rights of children and the responsibilities that each parent has towards their children, rather than on parental rights; Parenthood arising form the new assisted reproductive technologies; the right of the adopted children or children conceived by gamete donation to know their genetic origin vis-à-vis the rights of the donor for anonymity; the children’s family rights with emphasis on the rights guaranteed with the Convention on the rights of child; Joint legal custody and joint physical custody after divorce; The right of the child to express its opinion in any family decision concerning its interests, and the right to be heard in any court and administrative proceedings. Within the framework of this course special focus is given to the role and importance of the Commission on European Family Law related to the harmonisation and the unification of Family law in Europe. To achieve this, the students will be provided with information on the principles of European Family Law and the reports of European states regarding: Divorce/Maintenance reports, Parental Responsibility reports, Property Relations reports and Informal Relationships reports.

    The main objective of this course is to emphasize the fact that in the modern society, there is no universal, generally accepted model of family and parenting. By studying the subject ‘New reproductive technology and parental rights’, students will gain knowledge about new artificial reproductive technologies that are part of the contemporary natality policy. In more details, students will be introduced to all artificial reproductive technologies of humans, such as artificial insemination, in vitro fertilization, surrogate motherhood, the birth of children from a woman with sperm donation, posthumous reproduction, co-parenting, and ‘three parent' baby technique, cryopreservation of gametes or embryos. Through this course students are expected to develop their critical thinking through the debates on the many moral, ethical and legal dilemmas related to these new technologies for the human reproduction. Students aided by numerous examples, will learn that while in the past the conceiving of a child was simply a biological process, nowadays with the advancement of the technology and biomedicine, child conception has become a planned and conscious process. Planned parenthood and parental responsibility are contemporary concepts which are promoted by numerous international documents and contemporary legislations on family law. By studying this subject, students will learn about a wide variety of opportunities for fertilization that are applied in large parts of Western European countries where family establishment is considered a personal choice of individuals/ partnerships.

    The purpose of this course program is to elaborate the theoretical and practical aspects of human rights. The subject program is designed to analyze the ideas of human rights, human rights theories, the classification of human rights and the legal framework for each specific human right in the Republic of North Macedonia. Special emphasis is given to: the right to life, the right to freedom, the integrity of the human personality, the right to defense, the right to a fair trial, the right to legal security, the right to privacy, the right to appeal, freedom of thought and conviction, freedom of association, freedom of public assembly, voting right, right to property, freedom of work and the right to work, right to education, etc. The academic analysis of the mechanisms for protection of human rights will also be provided to the Constitutional Court, the regular courts in the RNM, as well as to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. The purpose of this course program is to enable students to gain in-depth knowledge in the field of human rights and to apply this knowledge in practice, as well as to develop their own analytical and critical skills while at the same time explaining the theoretical aspects of human rights and their application in practice, and in particular: - to understand the concept of human rights; -to understand the classification of human rights: civil liberties and rights, political freedoms and rights, as well as cultural, economic and social rights; - to gain knowledge of the content of specific human rights; -to apply acquired knowledge to specific situations of enjoyment or violation of human rights, and -to make a critical analysis of the situation with human rights in the Republic of North Macedonia, and comparatively in the EU, the European Council, as well as with other countries.

    Through this elective course, students are expected to understand the development of Albanian and Macedonian law, including the most important legal institutes and their main features in a historical context. The study of these institutes begins in the ancient period, and continues to this day. Regarding the law, topics such as: legal systems that have been applied in parallel in these territories, the development of legal branches, such as family, inheritance, property and criminal law will be analyzed. An important part of this course is the analysis of legal institutes of customary law as an important legal monument and an important part of the cultural heritage, which was applied in parallel with the positive law. Students are expected to: • have basic knowledge about the historical development of Albanian and Macedonian law; • identify the most important institutes of civil and criminal law, sources and types of law; • acquire solid knowledge of customary law and its institutes; • interpret the causal relation of processes, phenomena and events during the development of law.

    In the context of this module, the focus will be on the fundamental institutions of international law in armed conflicts, which covers internal armed conflicts and civil wars. Emphasis will be placed on its resources, namely the Geneva Conventions on international humanitarian law and additional protocols. In conditions of extremely rapid development of this discipline in order to include multiple internal conflicts and their legal regulation of the humanitarian aspect, special emphasis will be placed in internal armed conflicts.

    This course will provide students with opportunities to acquire knowledge of environmental law, starting from international to national law. Thus, environmental law will be taught as an academic discipline, as well as its perspectives and conceptual theoretical and practical problems and concerns that are faced during the process of implementation of the environmental law. The basic aim is to provide students with advanced knowledge on environmental law and to develop their knowledge and skills.

    Criminalistics consists in detecting, clarifying and proving criminal offenses, detecting and identifying perpetrators and preventing criminality. The main purpose of this course is to provide the students of the Faculty of Law with general knowledge on the detection, investigation and clarification of criminal offenses, technique and criminal tactics for detecting and identifying perpetrators etc. Also, within this course, students will be prepared and trained to use criminalistics tools and methods to achieve the goals outlined above, and with this, in general, their knowledge on criminal law and criminalistics would be shaped. It is an imperative that a new jurist tomorrow in the profession of judge, prosecutor, lawyer etc. also have knowledge from criminalistics in order to better and adequately perform his work.

The general section studies the system of medical law, sources, methods, its place in the social and scientific system, criminal law protection of patient’s rights etc. Specific issues, legal aspects of different types of medical interventions are subject to a separate part of this science.     Criminality as a negative and dangerous phenomenon for the society is manifested in various forms throughout human historical development. Juveniles in criminal law have always been treated differently from adults, and their legal position has always evolved in their favour. Juvenile delinquents are in close relation with other socio-pathological phenomena, such as: drug addiction, alcoholism and prostitution, phenomena that today are spread in almost every country on earth and are present in Macedonia. Therefore, this course as a basic goal has the treatment of the following: to discover and record new forms of this criminal phenomenon, to explain the reasons for their presence and to suggest measures for their prevention and punishment.

    The main objective of the this course is to study the changes that some European family law institutions have gone through, concepts that are part of the reform of the family law of the legal system of Republic of North Macedonia: Equal Protection for the illegitimate and legitimate children; the increasing number of divorced parents; legal regulation of the extramarital union; same-sex parent families; marriage in the form of registered partnership; property issue of international couples (marriages and registered partnership); the focus of the Family Law on the rights of children and the responsibilities that each parent has towards their children, rather than on parental rights; Parenthood arising form the new assisted reproductive technologies; the right of the adopted children or children conceived by gamete donation to know their genetic origin vis-à-vis the rights of the donor for anonymity; the children’s family rights with emphasis on the rights guaranteed with the Convention on the rights of child; Joint legal custody and joint physical custody after divorce; The right of the child to express its opinion in any family decision concerning its interests, and the right to be heard in any court and administrative proceedings. Within the framework of this course special focus is given to the role and importance of the Commission on European Family Law related to the harmonisation and the unification of Family law in Europe.   • [ELE-702] New reproductive technology and parental rights
    The main objective of this course is to emphasize the fact that in the modern society, there is no universal, generally accepted model of family and parenting. By studying the subject ‘New reproductive technology and parental rights’, students will gain knowledge about new artificial reproductive technologies that are part of the contemporary natality policy. In more details, students will be introduced to all artificial reproductive technologies of humans, such as artificial insemination, in vitro fertilization, surrogate motherhood, the birth of children from a woman with sperm donation, posthumous reproduction, co-parenting, and ‘three parent' baby technique, cryopreservation of gametes or embryos. Through this course students are expected to develop their critical thinking through the debates on the many moral, ethical and legal dilemmas related to these new technologies for the human reproduction. Students aided by numerous examples, will learn that while in the past the conceiving of a child was simply a biological process, nowadays with the advancement of the technology and biomedicine, child conception has become a planned and conscious process. Planned parenthood and parental responsibility are contemporary concepts which are promoted by numerous international documents and contemporary legislations on family law. By studying this subject, students will learn about a wide variety of opportunities for fertilization that are applied in large parts of Western European countries where family establishment is considered a personal choice of individuals/ partnerships.

    The purpose of this course program is to elaborate the theoretical and practical aspects of human rights. The subject program is designed to analyze the ideas of human rights, human rights theories, the classification of human rights and the legal framework for each specific human right in the Republic of North Macedonia. Special emphasis is given to: the right to life, the right to freedom, the integrity of the human personality, the right to defense, the right to a fair trial, the right to legal security, the right to privacy, the right to appeal, freedom of thought and conviction, freedom of association, freedom of public assembly, voting right, right to property, freedom of work and the right to work, right to education, etc. The academic analysis of the mechanisms for protection of human rights will also be provided to the Constitutional Court, the regular courts in the RNM, as well as to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. The purpose of this course program is to enable students to gain in-depth knowledge in the field of human rights and to apply this knowledge in practice, as well as to develop their own analytical and critical skills while at the same time explaining the theoretical aspects of human rights and their application in practice, and in particular: - to understand the concept of human rights; -to understand the classification of human rights: civil liberties and rights, political freedoms and rights, as well as cultural, economic and social rights; - to gain knowledge of the content of specific human rights; -to apply acquired knowledge to specific situations of enjoyment or violation of human rights, and -to make a critical analysis of the situation with human rights in the Republic of North Macedonia, and comparatively in the EU, the European Council, as well as with other countries.

    The main goal of this course is to give a general overview of the American legal system. Students should be able to understand the legal principles and rules on which American law is based, to recognize how the American legal order is structured, how American lawyers resonate, and how law is taught at American universities. The course aims to stimulate a critical awareness of the content and values upon which the American legal order is based.

    Through this elective course, students are expected to understand the development of Albanian and Macedonian law, including the most important legal institutes and their main features in a historical context. The study of these institutes begins in the ancient period, and continues to this day. Regarding the law, topics such as: legal systems that have been applied in parallel in these territories, the development of legal branches, such as family, inheritance, property and criminal law will be analyzed. An important part of this course is the analysis of legal institutes of customary law as an important legal monument and an important part of the cultural heritage, which was applied in parallel with the positive law. Students are expected to: • have basic knowledge about the historical development of Albanian and Macedonian law; • identify the most important institutes of civil and criminal law, sources and types of law; • acquire solid knowledge of customary law and its institutes; • interpret the causal relation of processes, phenomena and events during the development of law.

    In the context of this module, the focus will be on the fundamental institutions of international law in armed conflicts, which covers internal armed conflicts and civil wars. Emphasis will be placed on its resources, namely the Geneva Conventions on international humanitarian law and additional protocols. In conditions of extremely rapid development of this discipline in order to include multiple internal conflicts and their legal regulation of the humanitarian aspect, special emphasis will be placed in internal armed conflicts.

    This course will provide students with opportunities to acquire knowledge of environmental law, starting from international to national law. They will also be provided with opportunities to increase understanding of the international framework, as well as norms and standards on the field of environment, and their implementation and compliance. Thus, environmental law will be taught as an academic discipline, as well as its perspectives and conceptual theoretical and practical problems and concerns that are faced during the process of implementation of the environmental law. The basic aim is to provide students with advanced knowledge on environmental law and to develop their knowledge and skills.

    Criminalistics consists in detecting, clarifying and proving criminal offenses, detecting and identifying perpetrators and preventing criminality. The main purpose of this course is to provide the students of the Faculty of Law with general knowledge on the detection, investigation and clarification of criminal offenses, technique and criminal tactics for detecting and identifying perpetrators etc. Also, within this course, students will be prepared and trained to use criminalistics tools and methods to achieve the goals outlined above, and with this, in general, their knowledge on criminal law and criminalistics would be shaped. It is an imperative that a new jurist tomorrow in the profession of judge, prosecutor, lawyer etc. also have knowledge from criminalistics in order to better and adequately perform his work.

    The purpose of this course is for students to gain theoretical and practical knowledge on issues related to the execution of penal sanctions regulated by the Law on Execution of Criminal Sanctions of our country and beyond. The subject of Penology is studied and its main institutions, issues and contemporary trends, the influence of various factors in the execution of criminal sanctions, penological examination regarding the punishment imposed as well as identifying and analyzing penological contemporary issues.

  Introducing students with the basics of data-based science. Open data and application of information technologies in the processing of these data through case analysis, case studies and best European practices, teamwork in the preparation of a project tasks and presentation of the same.

  The purpose of this course program is to provide students with in-depth knowledge of electronic Cadastral Law. Through this program students will be introduced to the constitutive effect of the registration of real estate rights, with a special focus on: - the right to ownership of real estate as constitutionally guaranteed basic economic right of the citizens - real rights related to real estate as rights of first-degree importance, both for the holder of those rights and for the wider social community - writing in the public record for registering real estate rights - the real estate cadastre is a public book in which the registration of the right to ownership and other real estate rights, the real estate data, as well as other rights and facts whose registration is established by law - the property list as a public document proving the registered right of ownership and other real property rights in accordance with the law - multidisciplinary knowledge (geodetic works, electronic services) that will enable them to essentially solve the issues from this area of registration of real estate rights - Preparation of a domain profile (model) for the real estate register that will ensure the operability of the system. - Recognition of comparative law in this area of neighboring countries, European Union Member States and Anglo-Saxon law.

    After completing the course Contemporary legal systems of the world students will be able: - to understand the similarities and differences between the legal traditions in the world, especially those of continental Europe and Anglo-Saxon family (Common law). - to Identify the sources of law (legislation, case law, legal science) of particular legal systems in the world; - to compare different solutions in the most important legal systems in the world; - to apply comparative methods which enable the identification of the essential characteristics of the principal legal systems.

    By studying the course program students will gain knowledge on the basics of intellectual property law and the types of rights and holders of rights. Students through lectures will gain the necessary knowledge to distinguish artists (author, inventor, creator) from holders of the rights (individuals and legal entities), but also to learn which rights belong to them (moral, material, etc.). By acquiring knowledge for the rights that belong to the holders, students will gain practical knowledge on how the trade of intellectual property rights (IPR) is conducted, through which they will understand the significance and economic value of these rights in the world and in our country. Particularly they will acquire information on how to transfer rights, namely contracts for the transfer of IPR - license agreement, cession, franchising, technology transfer, contracts for commissioning of copyright work, contracts for copyrighted work from labor relations etc. As a result of the knowledge gained students will be able to recognize the daily violations of IPR (piracy and counterfeiting). As a logical conclusion of this course students will gain knowledge on the protection of these rights.

    The course objectives of Notary Law are: -To enable students to independently identify and critically analyze concepts and institutes of notary law -To develop skills for practical use of the acquired knowledge associated with the conduct of certain notary works. -To investigate independently institutes of notary law from a theoretical perspective, their normative ways of formation, materialization and their practical implementation, and -To undertake certain actions from the process of performing certain notary works.

    The issue of peaceful settlement of disputes is old as the disputes that have existed for centuries between the countries. The first international attempt for resolving these issues are made at the end of the last century - the first Convention on the peaceful settlement of disputes - the Hague Convention for the peaceful settlement of disputes. General Assembly of the League of Nations adopted a General Act of 1929 for the peaceful settlement of international disputes, which was confirmed by the UN General Assembly in 1949. Regional organizations in nearly every continent establish and develop their systems for the peaceful settlement of disputes. However, there are still many disputes that remain unresolved, and in recent years we have witnessed the most radical attempts to resolve disputes by force - mostly outside the United Nations and the provisions of the Charter of the Organization on peaceful settlement of disputes. The first convention for the peaceful settlement of disputes was adopted at the peace conference in The Hague in 1899, although neither the first nor the second Hague Conference in 1907 failed to set mandatory rules on the peaceful settlement of disputes. Some authors of international disputes divide them into legal and political. Based on these positions, legal disputes are those disputes arising from the proceedings of legislative, judicial and executive branches of the state, its armed forces or individuals living in its territory, as political disputes those resulting from conflicting political interests. Of course, this is all in theory, but in practice it is very difficult to distinguish these cases, or mark them as legal or political. Every political dispute has legal side, as each legal case has political essence.

    The main objective of the this course is to study the changes that some European family law institutions have gone through, concepts that are part of the reform of the family law of the legal system of Republic of North Macedonia: Equal Protection for the illegitimate and legitimate children; the increasing number of divorced parents; legal regulation of the extramarital union; same-sex parent families; marriage in the form of registered partnership; property issue of international couples (marriages and registered partnership); the focus of the Family Law on the rights of children and the responsibilities that each parent has towards their children, rather than on parental rights; Parenthood arising form the new assisted reproductive technologies; the right of the adopted children or children conceived by gamete donation to know their genetic origin vis-à-vis the rights of the donor for anonymity; the children’s family rights with emphasis on the rights guaranteed with the Convention on the rights of child; Joint legal custody and joint physical custody after divorce; The right of the child to express its opinion in any family decision concerning its interests, and the right to be heard in any court and administrative proceedings. Within the framework of this course special focus is given to the role and importance of the Commission on European Family Law related to the harmonisation and the unification of Family law in Europe.     The main objective of this course is to emphasize the fact that in the modern society, there is no universal, generally accepted model of family and parenting. By studying the subject ‘New reproductive technology and parental rights’, students will gain knowledge about new artificial reproductive technologies that are part of the contemporary natality policy. In more details, students will be introduced to all artificial reproductive technologies of humans, such as artificial insemination, in vitro fertilization, surrogate motherhood, the birth of children from a woman with sperm donation, posthumous reproduction, co-parenting, and ‘three parent' baby technique, cryopreservation of gametes or embryos. Through this course students are expected to develop their critical thinking through the debates on the many moral, ethical and legal dilemmas related to these new technologies for the human reproduction. Students aided by numerous examples, will learn that while in the past the conceiving of a child was simply a biological process, nowadays with the advancement of the technology and biomedicine, child conception has become a planned and conscious process. Planned parenthood and parental responsibility are contemporary concepts which are promoted by numerous international documents and contemporary legislations on family law. By studying this subject, students will learn about a wide variety of opportunities for fertilization that are applied in large parts of Western European countries where family establishment is considered a personal choice of individuals/ partnerships.

    The purpose of this course program is to elaborate the theoretical and practical aspects of human rights. The subject program is designed to analyze the ideas of human rights, human rights theories, the classification of human rights and the legal framework for each specific human right in the Republic of North Macedonia. Special emphasis is given to: the right to life, the right to freedom, the integrity of the human personality, the right to defense, the right to a fair trial, the right to legal security, the right to privacy, the right to appeal, freedom of thought and conviction, freedom of association, freedom of public assembly, voting right, right to property, freedom of work and the right to work, right to education, etc. The academic analysis of the mechanisms for protection of human rights will also be provided to the Constitutional Court, the regular courts in the RNM, as well as to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.     Through this elective course, students are expected to understand the development of Albanian and Macedonian law, including the most important legal institutes and their main features in a historical context. The study of these institutes begins in the ancient period, and continues to this day. Regarding the law, topics such as: legal systems that have been applied in parallel in these territories, the development of legal branches, such as family, inheritance, property and criminal law will be analyzed. An important part of this course is the analysis of legal institutes of customary law as an important legal monument and an important part of the cultural heritage, which was applied in parallel with the positive law. Students are expected to: • have basic knowledge about the historical development of Albanian and Macedonian law; • identify the most important institutes of civil and criminal law, sources and types of law; • acquire solid knowledge of customary law and its institutes; • interpret the causal relation of processes, phenomena and events during the development of law.

    In the context of this module, the focus will be on the fundamental institutions of international law in armed conflicts, which covers internal armed conflicts and civil wars. Emphasis will be placed on its resources, namely the Geneva Conventions on international humanitarian law and additional protocols. In conditions of extremely rapid development of this discipline in order to include multiple internal conflicts and their legal regulation of the humanitarian aspect, special emphasis will be placed in internal armed conflicts.

    This course will provide students with opportunities to acquire knowledge of environmental law, starting from international to national law. They will also be provided with opportunities to increase understanding of the international framework, as well as norms and standards on the field of environment, and their implementation and compliance. Thus, environmental law will be taught as an academic discipline, as well as its perspectives and conceptual theoretical and practical problems and concerns that are faced during the process of implementation of the environmental law.     Criminalistics consists in detecting, clarifying and proving criminal offenses, detecting and identifying perpetrators and preventing criminality. The main purpose of this course is to provide the students of the Faculty of Law with general knowledge on the detection, investigation and clarification of criminal offenses, technique and criminal tactics for detecting and identifying perpetrators etc. Also, within this course, students will be prepared and trained to use criminalistics tools and methods to achieve the goals outlined above, and with this, in general, their knowledge on criminal law and criminalistics would be shaped. It is an imperative that a new jurist tomorrow in the profession of judge, prosecutor, lawyer etc. also have knowledge from criminalistics in order to better and adequately perform his work.

    The purpose of this course is for students to gain theoretical and practical knowledge on issues related to the execution of penal sanctions regulated by the Law on Execution of Criminal Sanctions of our country and beyond. The subject of Penology is studied and its main institutions, issues and contemporary trends, the influence of various factors in the execution of criminal sanctions, penological examination regarding the punishment imposed as well as identifying and analyzing penological contemporary issues.

    After completing the course Contemporary legal systems of the world students will be able: - to understand the similarities and differences between the legal traditions in the world, especially those of continental Europe and Anglo-Saxon family (Common law). - to Identify the sources of law (legislation, case law, legal science) of particular legal systems in the world; - to compare different solutions in the most important legal systems in the world; - to apply comparative methods which enable the identification of the essential characteristics of the principal legal systems.

    By studying the course program students will gain knowledge on the basics of intellectual property law and the types of rights and holders of rights. Students through lectures will gain the necessary knowledge to distinguish artists (author, inventor, creator) from holders of the rights (individuals and legal entities), but also to learn which rights belong to them (moral, material, etc.). By acquiring knowledge for the rights that belong to the holders, students will gain practical knowledge on how the trade of intellectual property rights (IPR) is conducted, through which they will understand the significance and economic value of these rights in the world and in our country. Particularly they will acquire information on how to transfer rights, namely contracts for the transfer of IPR - license agreement, cession, franchising, technology transfer, contracts for commissioning of copyright work, contracts for copyrighted work from labor relations etc. As a result of the knowledge gained students will be able to recognize the daily violations of IPR (piracy and counterfeiting). As a logical conclusion of this course students will gain knowledge on the protection of these rights.

    The course objectives of Notary Law are: -To enable students to independently identify and critically analyze concepts and institutes of notary law -To develop skills for practical use of the acquired knowledge associated with the conduct of certain notary works. -To investigate independently institutes of notary law from a theoretical perspective, their normative ways of formation, materialization and their practical implementation, and -To undertake certain actions from the process of performing certain notary works.

    The issue of peaceful settlement of disputes is old as the disputes that have existed for centuries between the countries. The first international attempt for resolving these issues are made at the end of the last century - the first Convention on the peaceful settlement of disputes - the Hague Convention for the peaceful settlement of disputes. General Assembly of the League of Nations adopted a General Act of 1929 for the peaceful settlement of international disputes, which was confirmed by the UN General Assembly in 1949. Regional organizations in nearly every continent establish and develop their systems for the peaceful settlement of disputes. However, there are still many disputes that remain unresolved, and in recent years we have witnessed the most radical attempts to resolve disputes by force - mostly outside the United Nations and the provisions of the Charter of the Organization on peaceful settlement of disputes. The first convention for the peaceful settlement of disputes was adopted at the peace conference in The Hague in 1899, although neither the first nor the second Hague Conference in 1907 failed to set mandatory rules on the peaceful settlement of disputes. Some authors of international disputes divide them into legal and political. Based on these positions, legal disputes are those disputes arising from the proceedings of legislative, judicial and executive branches of the state, its armed forces or individuals living in its territory, as political disputes those resulting from conflicting political interests. Of course, this is all in theory, but in practice it is very difficult to distinguish these cases, or mark them as legal or political. Every political dispute has legal side, as each legal case has political essence.

    Medical criminal law is a special area within the medical law as a separate legal branch in general and a separete criminal law discipline. The science of medical criminal law consists of general and special part. The general section studies the system of medical law, sources, methods, its place in the social and scientific system, criminal law protection of patient’s rights etc. Specific issues, legal aspects of different types of medical interventions are subject to a separate part of this science. These are: the provision of medical care, euthanasia, abortion, medical expertise, medical care, transplantation, medical mistakes, reproductive technologies, cloning, genetic manipulation etc. The medical criminal law inculdes the matter of the status, rights and way of dealing with mentally ill people and generally, the treatment of unoredictable persons, security measures, protection of physical and mental integrity, protection of the right to life, the exclusion of illegality in medical interventions etc.

    Criminality as a negative and dangerous phenomenon for the society is manifested in various forms throughout human historical development. Juveniles in criminal law have always been treated differently from adults, and their legal position has always evolved in their favour. Juvenile delinquents are in close relation with other socio-pathological phenomena, such as: drug addiction, alcoholism and prostitution, phenomena that today are spread in almost every country on earth and are present in Macedonia. Therefore, this course as a basic goal has the treatment of the following: to discover and record new forms of this criminal phenomenon, to explain the reasons for their presence and to suggest measures for their prevention and punishment.

    Through this course the student will have the opportunity to learn more about the types and categories of domestic violence, its incrimination by national legislation and international conventions and the assistance provided to victims of such violence.   The student will gain in-depth knowledge in the basic areas of artificial intelligence, such as searching, solving problems, presenting knowledge, judging, making decisions, planning, learning, and applying them.   Students will gain in-depth knowledge of electronic trading and banking law in the Republic of North Macedonia, the EU and globally. Especially for e-commerce and its features and security as well as electronic payments and domain protection, with particular reference to the internet contracts and the manner of their conclusion. Special emphasis will be placed on the legal protection of consumers in electronic commerce and e-banking, with particular reference to the legal practice in the EU, in the world as well as in domestic law.

  Students will gain in-depth knowledge of EU data protection standards based on Council of Europe Convention 108, EU instruments - including the general data protection legislation and the Data Protection Directive for the police and criminal justice bodies as well as the relevant case law of the European Court of Human Rights and the Court of Justice of the European Union. The rapid development of information technology has detracted the need for stable protection of personal data, the right to protect the instruments of the European Union (EU) and the Council of Europe (CoE). Preserving this important right is causing new and significant challenges, as technological advancements extend the boundaries of areas such as surveillance, communications monitoring and data storage. The subject program is important for students because our societies are becoming increasingly digitized. The pace of technological development and how personal data is processed affects every one of us every day and in all sorts of ways in the light of these changes. The legal frameworks of the European Union (EU) and the Council of Europe that protect the protection of privacy and personal data have recently been reviewed. Europe is at the forefront of data protection worldwide.

    After completing the course Contemporary legal systems of the world students will be able: - to understand the similarities and differences between the legal traditions in the world, especially those of continental Europe and Anglo-Saxon family (Common law). - to Identify the sources of law (legislation, case law, legal science) of particular legal systems in the world; - to compare different solutions in the most important legal systems in the world; - to apply comparative methods which enable the identification of the essential characteristics of the principal legal systems.

    By studying the course program students will gain knowledge on the basics of intellectual property law and the types of rights and holders of rights. Students through lectures will gain the necessary knowledge to distinguish artists (author, inventor, creator) from holders of the rights (individuals and legal entities), but also to learn which rights belong to them (moral, material, etc.). By acquiring knowledge for the rights that belong to the holders, students will gain practical knowledge on how the trade of intellectual property rights (IPR) is conducted, through which they will understand the significance and economic value of these rights in the world and in our country. Particularly they will acquire information on how to transfer rights, namely contracts for the transfer of IPR - license agreement, cession, franchising, technology transfer, contracts for commissioning of copyright work, contracts for copyrighted work from labor relations etc. As a result of the knowledge gained students will be able to recognize the daily violations of IPR (piracy and counterfeiting). As a logical conclusion of this course students will gain knowledge on the protection of these rights.

    The course objectives of Notary Law are: -To enable students to independently identify and critically analyze concepts and institutes of notary law -To develop skills for practical use of the acquired knowledge associated with the conduct of certain notary works. -To investigate independently institutes of notary law from a theoretical perspective, their normative ways of formation, materialization and their practical implementation, and -To undertake certain actions from the process of performing certain notary works.

    The issue of peaceful settlement of disputes is old as the disputes that have existed for centuries between the countries. The first international attempt for resolving these issues are made at the end of the last century - the first Convention on the peaceful settlement of disputes - the Hague Convention for the peaceful settlement of disputes. General Assembly of the League of Nations adopted a General Act of 1929 for the peaceful settlement of international disputes, which was confirmed by the UN General Assembly in 1949. Regional organizations in nearly every continent establish and develop their systems for the peaceful settlement of disputes. However, there are still many disputes that remain unresolved, and in recent years we have witnessed the most radical attempts to resolve disputes by force - mostly outside the United Nations and the provisions of the Charter of the Organization on peaceful settlement of disputes. The first convention for the peaceful settlement of disputes was adopted at the peace conference in The Hague in 1899, although neither the first nor the second Hague Conference in 1907 failed to set mandatory rules on the peaceful settlement of disputes. Some authors of international disputes divide them into legal and political. Based on these positions, legal disputes are those disputes arising from the proceedings of legislative, judicial and executive branches of the state, its armed forces or individuals living in its territory, as political disputes those resulting from conflicting political interests. Of course, this is all in theory, but in practice it is very difficult to distinguish these cases, or mark them as legal or political. Every political dispute has legal side, as each legal case has political essence.

    Course objectives: Acquiring deeper knowledge of the law on the regulation of tourism. The main emphasis is put on familiarizing students with a higher level of legal rules that govern the tourist activities and the way of regulating the relations between the entities involved in tourism. After the successful completion of the course students will be able to demonstrate detailed knowledge of key legal institutes present in the legislation on tourism, as well as demonstrate ability for their practical analysis and successful application in their everyday work in the practice of tourist activities.

    Objectives of the course: Gaining knowledge about the definition of corruption, its manifestations and forms of corruption, criminological characteristics and criminal legal aspects of this crime regarding the characteristics of the offenders and the amount of illegal proceeds acquired. Also, students acquire knowledge for international instruments and Convections to fight against corruption and preventing this type of crime.

    Medical criminal law is a special area within the medical law as a separate legal branch in general and a separete criminal law discipline. The science of medical criminal law consists of general and special part. The general section studies the system of medical law, sources, methods, its place in the social and scientific system, criminal law protection of patient’s rights etc. Specific issues, legal aspects of different types of medical interventions are subject to a separate part of this science. These are: the provision of medical care, euthanasia, abortion, medical expertise, medical care, transplantation, medical mistakes, reproductive technologies, cloning, genetic manipulation etc. The medical criminal law inculdes the matter of the status, rights and way of dealing with mentally ill people and generally, the treatment of unoredictable persons, security measures, protection of physical and mental integrity, protection of the right to life, the exclusion of illegality in medical interventions etc.

    Students will acquire knowledge about political parties and electoral models as well as their function in real political life in the Republic of North Macedonia and the EU. There will be a special emphasis on the electoral system of the Republic of North Macedonia, the situation and perspectives, and the development of the necessary model that fits the circumstances of Republic of North Macedonia.

    This course will acquaint students with basic institutions of international diplomatic and consular law by covering all aspects related to the establishment, maintenance and termination of diplomatic and consular relations on bilateral and multilateral level, in permanent and temporary (ad hoc) form, i.e., establishment, operation and termination of diplomatic, special and consular missions (bilateral), i.e. missions of international organizations and permanent missions in the international organizations (Multilateral).
  • [CCR-603] Juvenile Delinquency
    Criminality as a negative and dangerous phenomenon for the society is manifested in various forms throughout human historical development. Juveniles in criminal law have always been treated differently from adults, and their legal position has always evolved in their favour. Juvenile delinquents are in close relation with other socio-pathological phenomena, such as: drug addiction, alcoholism and prostitution, phenomena that today are spread in almost every country on earth and are present in Macedonia. Therefore, this course as a basic goal has the treatment of the following: to discover and record new forms of this criminal phenomenon, to explain the reasons for their presence and to suggest measures for their prevention and punishment.

    Through this course the student will have the opportunity to learn more about the types and categories of domestic violence, its incrimination by national legislation and international conventions and the assistance provided to victims of such violence. In the course "domestic violence" the following in more detail is studied: The state of the Macedonian criminal legislation in relation to domestic violence; International trends and documents in this area; The role of NGOs in providing assistance to victims of domestic violence; Situation of domestic violence in domestic jurisprudence.

    The course of organized crime as a new subject aims studying of formats, causes and measures to prevent and fight against organized crime. The purpose of this course is for students to gain knowledge about theories on organized crime, criminal organizations and forms of manifestation of this phenomenon. Besides studying the factors that enable the emergence of organized crime, the researchers on this field should also study the measures to combat and prevent organized crime.

    Objectives of the course: - Acquainting knowledge about concepts, phenomena and the institutions of local self-government in the Republic of Macedonia, in the region, in EU Member States and in the world; - Acquainting specific knowledge of local government as a science and a legal branch, including a comparative analysis of the situation and perspectives of the same in regional and European domain; Through this module students will be trained on basic theoretical and practical knowledge about the organization, scope, responsibilities, sources of financing of local government and the relationship with the institutions of central government; - Encouraging students’ critical thinking in the fundamental problems of local government in the Republic of Macedonia and within the EU, which will take into account the European Charter of Local Self-Government; - The syllabus will treat the matter from the comparative and national aspect, because in terms of globalization, local governments cannot understand, if considered solely in national terms; - The program in itself will also include: constitution, the Law on Local Self-Government, Law on Territorial Organization and the statutes and decisions of municipalities. - At the end of the course, students will be able to make fundamental and substantive differences between the institutions of local government, their interconnection and their practical operation; - To make the necessary theoretical and practical differences of concepts, phenomena and institutes of the Local Government. - To describe and analyze the various processes and trends of local government in the Republic of Macedonia, region, EU and worldwide.

    The main objective of the this course is to study the changes that some European family law institutions have gone through, concepts that are part of the reform of the family law of the legal system of Republic of North Macedonia: Equal Protection for the illegitimate and legitimate children; the increasing number of divorced parents; legal regulation of the extramarital union; same-sex parent families; marriage in the form of registered partnership; property issue of international couples (marriages and registered partnership); the focus of the Family Law on the rights of children and the responsibilities that each parent has towards their children, rather than on parental rights; Parenthood arising form the new assisted reproductive technologies; the right of the adopted children or children conceived by gamete donation to know their genetic origin vis-à-vis the rights of the donor for anonymity; the children’s family rights with emphasis on the rights guaranteed with the Convention on the rights of child; Joint legal custody and joint physical custody after divorce; The right of the child to express its opinion in any family decision concerning its interests, and the right to be heard in any court and administrative proceedings. Within the framework of this course special focus is given to the role and importance of the Commission on European Family Law related to the harmonisation and the unification of Family law in Europe. To achieve this, the students will be provided with information on the principles of European Family Law and the reports of European states regarding: Divorce/Maintenance reports, Parental Responsibility reports, Property Relations reports and Informal Relationships reports.
  • [ELE-702] New reproductive technology and parental rights
    The main objective of this course is to emphasize the fact that in the modern society, there is no universal, generally accepted model of family and parenting. By studying the subject ‘New reproductive technology and parental rights’, students will gain knowledge about new artificial reproductive technologies that are part of the contemporary natality policy. In more details, students will be introduced to all artificial reproductive technologies of humans, such as artificial insemination, in vitro fertilization, surrogate motherhood, the birth of children from a woman with sperm donation, posthumous reproduction, co-parenting, and ‘three parent' baby technique, cryopreservation of gametes or embryos. Through this course students are expected to develop their critical thinking through the debates on the many moral, ethical and legal dilemmas related to these new technologies for the human reproduction. Students aided by numerous examples, will learn that while in the past the conceiving of a child was simply a biological process, nowadays with the advancement of the technology and biomedicine, child conception has become a planned and conscious process. Planned parenthood and parental responsibility are contemporary concepts which are promoted by numerous international documents and contemporary legislations on family law. By studying this subject, students will learn about a wide variety of opportunities for fertilization that are applied in large parts of Western European countries where family establishment is considered a personal choice of individuals/ partnerships.

    The purpose of this course program is to elaborate the theoretical and practical aspects of human rights. The subject program is designed to analyze the ideas of human rights, human rights theories, the classification of human rights and the legal framework for each specific human right in the Republic of North Macedonia. Special emphasis is given to: the right to life, the right to freedom, the integrity of the human personality, the right to defense, the right to a fair trial, the right to legal security, the right to privacy, the right to appeal, freedom of thought and conviction, freedom of association, freedom of public assembly, voting right, right to property, freedom of work and the right to work, right to education, etc. The academic analysis of the mechanisms for protection of human rights will also be provided to the Constitutional Court, the regular courts in the RNM, as well as to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. The purpose of this course program is to enable students to gain in-depth knowledge in the field of human rights and to apply this knowledge in practice, as well as to develop their own analytical and critical skills while at the same time explaining the theoretical aspects of human rights and their application in practice, and in particular: - to understand the concept of human rights; -to understand the classification of human rights: civil liberties and rights, political freedoms and rights, as well as cultural, economic and social rights; - to gain knowledge of the content of specific human rights; -to apply acquired knowledge to specific situations of enjoyment or violation of human rights, and -to make a critical analysis of the situation with human rights in the Republic of North Macedonia, and comparatively in the EU, the European Council, as well as with other countries.

    The main goal of this course is to give a general overview of the American legal system. Students should be able to understand the legal principles and rules on which American law is based, to recognize how the American legal order is structured, how American lawyers resonate, and how law is taught at American universities. The course aims to stimulate a critical awareness of the content and values upon which the American legal order is based.

    Through this elective course, students are expected to understand the development of Albanian and Macedonian law, including the most important legal institutes and their main features in a historical context. The study of these institutes begins in the ancient period, and continues to this day. Regarding the law, topics such as: legal systems that have been applied in parallel in these territories, the development of legal branches, such as family, inheritance, property and criminal law will be analyzed. An important part of this course is the analysis of legal institutes of customary law as an important legal monument and an important part of the cultural heritage, which was applied in parallel with the positive law. Students are expected to: • have basic knowledge about the historical development of Albanian and Macedonian law; • identify the most important institutes of civil and criminal law, sources and types of law; • acquire solid knowledge of customary law and its institutes; • interpret the causal relation of processes, phenomena and events during the development of law.
  • [ELE006] International Humanitarian Law
    In the context of this module, the focus will be on the fundamental institutions of international law in armed conflicts, which covers internal armed conflicts and civil wars. Emphasis will be placed on its resources, namely the Geneva Conventions on international humanitarian law and additional protocols. In conditions of extremely rapid development of this discipline in order to include multiple internal conflicts and their legal regulation of the humanitarian aspect, special emphasis will be placed in internal armed conflicts.

    This course will provide students with opportunities to acquire knowledge of environmental law, starting from international to national law. They will also be provided with opportunities to increase understanding of the international framework, as well as norms and standards on the field of environment, and their implementation and compliance. Thus, environmental law will be taught as an academic discipline, as well as its perspectives and conceptual theoretical and practical problems and concerns that are faced during the process of implementation of the environmental law. The basic aim is to provide students with advanced knowledge on environmental law and to develop their knowledge and skills.

    Criminalistics consists in detecting, clarifying and proving criminal offenses, detecting and identifying perpetrators and preventing criminality. The main purpose of this course is to provide the students of the Faculty of Law with general knowledge on the detection, investigation and clarification of criminal offenses, technique and criminal tactics for detecting and identifying perpetrators etc. Also, within this course, students will be prepared and trained to use criminalistics tools and methods to achieve the goals outlined above, and with this, in general, their knowledge on criminal law and criminalistics would be shaped. It is an imperative that a new jurist tomorrow in the profession of judge, prosecutor, lawyer etc. also have knowledge from criminalistics in order to better and adequately perform his work.

    Course objectives: Acquiring deeper knowledge of the law on the regulation of tourism. After the successful completion of the course students will be able to demonstrate detailed knowledge of key legal institutes present in the legislation on tourism, as well as demonstrate ability for their practical analysis and successful application in their everyday work in the practice of tourist activities.

    Objectives of the course: Gaining knowledge about the definition of corruption, its manifestations and forms of corruption, criminological characteristics and criminal legal aspects of this crime regarding the characteristics of the offenders and the amount of illegal proceeds acquired. Also, students acquire knowledge for international instruments and Convections to fight against corruption and preventing this type of crime.

    Medical criminal law is a special area within the medical law as a separate legal branch in general and a separete criminal law discipline. The science of medical criminal law consists of general and special part. The general section studies the system of medical law, sources, methods, its place in the social and scientific system, criminal law protection of patient’s rights etc. Specific issues, legal aspects of different types of medical interventions are subject to a separate part of this science. These are: the provision of medical care, euthanasia, abortion, medical expertise, medical care, transplantation, medical mistakes, reproductive technologies, cloning, genetic manipulation etc. The medical criminal law inculdes the matter of the status, rights and way of dealing with mentally ill people and generally, the treatment of unoredictable persons, security measures, protection of physical and mental integrity, protection of the right to life, the exclusion of illegality in medical interventions etc.

    Students will acquire knowledge about political parties and electoral models as well as their function in real political life in the Republic of North Macedonia and the EU. There will be a special emphasis on the electoral system of the Republic of North Macedonia, the situation and perspectives, and the development of the necessary model that fits the circumstances of Republic of North Macedonia.

    This course will acquaint students with basic institutions of international diplomatic and consular law by covering all aspects related to the establishment, maintenance and termination of diplomatic and consular relations on bilateral and multilateral level, in permanent and temporary (ad hoc) form, i.e., establishment, operation and termination of diplomatic, special and consular missions (bilateral), i.e. missions of international organizations and permanent missions in the international organizations (Multilateral).

    Criminality as a negative and dangerous phenomenon for the society is manifested in various forms throughout human historical development. Juveniles in criminal law have always been treated differently from adults, and their legal position has always evolved in their favour. Juvenile delinquents are in close relation with other socio-pathological phenomena, such as: drug addiction, alcoholism and prostitution, phenomena that today are spread in almost every country on earth and are present in Macedonia. Therefore, this course as a basic goal has the treatment of the following: to discover and record new forms of this criminal phenomenon, to explain the reasons for their presence and to suggest measures for their prevention and punishment.

    Through this course the student will have the opportunity to learn more about the types and categories of domestic violence, its incrimination by national legislation and international conventions and the assistance provided to victims of such violence. In the course "domestic violence" the following in more detail is studied: The state of the Macedonian criminal legislation in relation to domestic violence; International trends and documents in this area; The role of NGOs in providing assistance to victims of domestic violence; Situation of domestic violence in domestic jurisprudence.

    The course of organized crime as a new subject aims studying of formats, causes and measures to prevent and fight against organized crime. The purpose of this course is for students to gain knowledge about theories on organized crime, criminal organizations and forms of manifestation of this phenomenon. Besides studying the factors that enable the emergence of organized crime, the researchers on this field should also study the measures to combat and prevent organized crime.

    Objectives of the course: - Acquainting knowledge about concepts, phenomena and the institutions of local self-government in the Republic of Macedonia, in the region, in EU Member States and in the world; - Acquainting specific knowledge of local government as a science and a legal branch, including a comparative analysis of the situation and perspectives of the same in regional and European domain; Through this module students will be trained on basic theoretical and practical knowledge about the organization, scope, responsibilities, sources of financing of local government and the relationship with the institutions of central government; - Encouraging students’ critical thinking in the fundamental problems of local government in the Republic of Macedonia and within the EU, which will take into account the European Charter of Local Self-Government; - The syllabus will treat the matter from the comparative and national aspect, because in terms of globalization, local governments cannot understand, if considered solely in national terms; - The program in itself will also include: constitution, the Law on Local Self-Government, Law on Territorial Organization and the statutes and decisions of municipalities. - At the end of the course, students will be able to make fundamental and substantive differences between the institutions of local government, their interconnection and their practical operation; - To make the necessary theoretical and practical differences of concepts, phenomena and institutes of the Local Government. - To describe and analyze the various processes and trends of local government in the Republic of Macedonia, region, EU and worldwide.

    Aims of the course: Bankruptcy and bankruptcy proceedings cover all aspects of bankruptcy, both from the matrimonial aspect and from a formal aspect, the reason of initiating a bankruptcy procedure, the ways of initiation, the course of the procedure, the division of the bankruptcy estate, the bankruptcy plan, the completion, as well as bankruptcy with a foreign element.

    The main objective of the this course is to study the changes that some European family law institutions have gone through, concepts that are part of the reform of the family law of the legal system of Republic of North Macedonia: Equal Protection for the illegitimate and legitimate children; the increasing number of divorced parents; legal regulation of the extramarital union; same-sex parent families; marriage in the form of registered partnership; property issue of international couples (marriages and registered partnership); the focus of the Family Law on the rights of children and the responsibilities that each parent has towards their children, rather than on parental rights; Parenthood arising form the new assisted reproductive technologies; the right of the adopted children or children conceived by gamete donation to know their genetic origin vis-à-vis the rights of the donor for anonymity; the children’s family rights with emphasis on the rights guaranteed with the Convention on the rights of child; Joint legal custody and joint physical custody after divorce; The right of the child to express its opinion in any family decision concerning its interests, and the right to be heard in any court and administrative proceedings. Within the framework of this course special focus is given to the role and importance of the Commission on European Family Law related to the harmonisation and the unification of Family law in Europe. To achieve this, the students will be provided with information on the principles of European Family Law and the reports of European states regarding: Divorce/Maintenance reports, Parental Responsibility reports, Property Relations reports and Informal Relationships reports.
  • [ELE-702] New reproductive technology and parental rights
    The main objective of this course is to emphasize the fact that in the modern society, there is no universal, generally accepted model of family and parenting. By studying the subject ‘New reproductive technology and parental rights’, students will gain knowledge about new artificial reproductive technologies that are part of the contemporary natality policy. In more details, students will be introduced to all artificial reproductive technologies of humans, such as artificial insemination, in vitro fertilization, surrogate motherhood, the birth of children from a woman with sperm donation, posthumous reproduction, co-parenting, and ‘three parent' baby technique, cryopreservation of gametes or embryos. Through this course students are expected to develop their critical thinking through the debates on the many moral, ethical and legal dilemmas related to these new technologies for the human reproduction. Students aided by numerous examples, will learn that while in the past the conceiving of a child was simply a biological process, nowadays with the advancement of the technology and biomedicine, child conception has become a planned and conscious process. Planned parenthood and parental responsibility are contemporary concepts which are promoted by numerous international documents and contemporary legislations on family law. By studying this subject, students will learn about a wide variety of opportunities for fertilization that are applied in large parts of Western European countries where family establishment is considered a personal choice of individuals/ partnerships.
  • [ELE-704] Constitutionalism and Human Rights
    The purpose of this course program is to elaborate the theoretical and practical aspects of human rights. The subject program is designed to analyze the ideas of human rights, human rights theories, the classification of human rights and the legal framework for each specific human right in the Republic of North Macedonia. Special emphasis is given to: the right to life, the right to freedom, the integrity of the human personality, the right to defense, the right to a fair trial, the right to legal security, the right to privacy, the right to appeal, freedom of thought and conviction, freedom of association, freedom of public assembly, voting right, right to property, freedom of work and the right to work, right to education, etc. The academic analysis of the mechanisms for protection of human rights will also be provided to the Constitutional Court, the regular courts in the RNM, as well as to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. The purpose of this course program is to enable students to gain in-depth knowledge in the field of human rights and to apply this knowledge in practice, as well as to develop their own analytical and critical skills while at the same time explaining the theoretical aspects of human rights and their application in practice, and in particular: - to understand the concept of human rights; -to understand the classification of human rights: civil liberties and rights, political freedoms and rights, as well as cultural, economic and social rights; - to gain knowledge of the content of specific human rights; -to apply acquired knowledge to specific situations of enjoyment or violation of human rights, and -to make a critical analysis of the situation with human rights in the Republic of North Macedonia, and comparatively in the EU, the European Council, as well as with other countries.

    The main goal of this course is to give a general overview of the American legal system. Students should be able to understand the legal principles and rules on which American law is based, to recognize how the American legal order is structured, how American lawyers resonate, and how law is taught at American universities. The course aims to stimulate a critical awareness of the content and values upon which the American legal order is based.
  • [ELE-706] National History of the Law
    Through this elective course, students are expected to understand the development of Albanian and Macedonian law, including the most important legal institutes and their main features in a historical context. The study of these institutes begins in the ancient period, and continues to this day. Regarding the law, topics such as: legal systems that have been applied in parallel in these territories, the development of legal branches, such as family, inheritance, property and criminal law will be analyzed. An important part of this course is the analysis of legal institutes of customary law as an important legal monument and an important part of the cultural heritage, which was applied in parallel with the positive law. Students are expected to: • have basic knowledge about the historical development of Albanian and Macedonian law; • identify the most important institutes of civil and criminal law, sources and types of law; • acquire solid knowledge of customary law and its institutes; • interpret the causal relation of processes, phenomena and events during the development of law.
  • [ELE006] International Humanitarian Law
    In the context of this module, the focus will be on the fundamental institutions of international law in armed conflicts, which covers internal armed conflicts and civil wars. Emphasis will be placed on its resources, namely the Geneva Conventions on international humanitarian law and additional protocols. In conditions of extremely rapid development of this discipline in order to include multiple internal conflicts and their legal regulation of the humanitarian aspect, special emphasis will be placed in internal armed conflicts.
  • [ELE-707] International Environmental Law
    This course will provide students with opportunities to acquire knowledge of environmental law, starting from international to national law. They will also be provided with opportunities to increase understanding of the international framework, as well as norms and standards on the field of environment, and their implementation and compliance. Thus, environmental law will be taught as an academic discipline, as well as its perspectives and conceptual theoretical and practical problems and concerns that are faced during the process of implementation of the environmental law. The basic aim is to provide students with advanced knowledge on environmental law and to develop their knowledge and skills.
  • [ELE-708] Introduction to Criminalistics
    Criminalistics consists in detecting, clarifying and proving criminal offenses, detecting and identifying perpetrators and preventing criminality. The main purpose of this course is to provide the students of the Faculty of Law with general knowledge on the detection, investigation and clarification of criminal offenses, technique and criminal tactics for detecting and identifying perpetrators etc. Also, within this course, students will be prepared and trained to use criminalistics tools and methods to achieve the goals outlined above, and with this, in general, their knowledge on criminal law and criminalistics would be shaped. It is an imperative that a new jurist tomorrow in the profession of judge, prosecutor, lawyer etc. also have knowledge from criminalistics in order to better and adequately perform his work.

    The purpose of this course is for students to gain theoretical and practical knowledge on issues related to the execution of penal sanctions regulated by the Law on Execution of Criminal Sanctions of our country and beyond. The subject of Penology is studied and its main institutions, issues and contemporary trends, the influence of various factors in the execution of criminal sanctions, penological examination regarding the punishment imposed as well as identifying and analyzing penological contemporary issues.

  Through this course program, students will acquire comprehensive knowledge of law and practice regarding Internet domain names at the international, European and national levels, combined with detailed comparative research on the most important domain names. The subject program covers the development of judicial law in this area, administrative procedures for domain name registration on the Internet as well as procedures for alternative dispute resolution at national, regional and international level, analysis of dispute resolution processes at each of those levels and strategic guidelines for managing domain names as part of an overall brand strategy.
• [CLI-802] [6 ECTS] E-Contracts, E-Insurance and E-Signature
  Students will gain in-depth knowledge of the legal status of electronic contracting and electronic signature as well as the development of treatment and acceptance of electronic agreements through changes in legislation and jurisprudence, especially in the framework of supranational EU legislation, as a compromise between the solutions existing in the Member States, with the progressive unification of legal rules to a new common legal model of the electronic bargaining framework and electronic signature.

  Through this course program students will deepen their knowledge of computer criminal law. The information and communication revolution in the world of the global computer network-Internet has brought with it new forms of socially unacceptable behavior that need to be properly criminalized. Global computer networks have created opportunities for new forms of crime committed through computers. In particular, students will acquire knowledge about computers and networks as well as the way they work, the basic concepts of the Internet, the role of internet service providers, and the way in which information and communication technologies are used to commit crimes, as well as international standards and domestic law; jurisprudence in the field of computer criminal law.
• [CLI-804] [6 ECTS] Digital Forensics
  Upon completion of the course students will gain knowledge about the principles and techniques needed for a digital forensic investigation. Students will also gain hands-on experience to work with various forensic tools for different operating systems. The purpose of this course program is for students to gain in-depth knowledge of digital forensics as a multidisciplinary science which combines a variety of scientific disciplines (computer science, law, criminology) with a number of challenges in terms of mass generation of digital data, virtualization, client and server-side, failure to comply with standards bodies and the general lack of many standards and experts in all disciplines. The program includes a number of applications of digital forensics, such as computer forensics, a mobile device, forensic systems of modern vehicles, sensor networks, etc. Special emphasis will be placed on the digital forensics of computer systems based on Windows and Linux platforms, focusing on specific areas in the implemented proactive digital forensics system, which may indicate forensic relevant events critical to the security of the system.

    After completing the course Contemporary legal systems of the world students will be able: - to understand the similarities and differences between the legal traditions in the world, especially those of continental Europe and Anglo-Saxon family (Common law). - to Identify the sources of law (legislation, case law, legal science) of particular legal systems in the world; - to compare different solutions in the most important legal systems in the world; - to apply comparative methods which enable the identification of the essential characteristics of the principal legal systems.
  • [ELE-607] Intellectual Property Law
    By studying the course program students will gain knowledge on the basics of intellectual property law and the types of rights and holders of rights. Students through lectures will gain the necessary knowledge to distinguish artists (author, inventor, creator) from holders of the rights (individuals and legal entities), but also to learn which rights belong to them (moral, material, etc.). By acquiring knowledge for the rights that belong to the holders, students will gain practical knowledge on how the trade of intellectual property rights (IPR) is conducted, through which they will understand the significance and economic value of these rights in the world and in our country. Particularly they will acquire information on how to transfer rights, namely contracts for the transfer of IPR - license agreement, cession, franchising, technology transfer, contracts for commissioning of copyright work, contracts for copyrighted work from labor relations etc. As a result of the knowledge gained students will be able to recognize the daily violations of IPR (piracy and counterfeiting). As a logical conclusion of this course students will gain knowledge on the protection of these rights.

    The course objectives of Notary Law are: -To enable students to independently identify and critically analyze concepts and institutes of notary law -To develop skills for practical use of the acquired knowledge associated with the conduct of certain notary works. -To investigate independently institutes of notary law from a theoretical perspective, their normative ways of formation, materialization and their practical implementation, and -To undertake certain actions from the process of performing certain notary works.
  • [ELE-609] Alternative Solution of Disputes
    The issue of peaceful settlement of disputes is old as the disputes that have existed for centuries between the countries. The first international attempt for resolving these issues are made at the end of the last century - the first Convention on the peaceful settlement of disputes - the Hague Convention for the peaceful settlement of disputes. General Assembly of the League of Nations adopted a General Act of 1929 for the peaceful settlement of international disputes, which was confirmed by the UN General Assembly in 1949. Regional organizations in nearly every continent establish and develop their systems for the peaceful settlement of disputes. However, there are still many disputes that remain unresolved, and in recent years we have witnessed the most radical attempts to resolve disputes by force - mostly outside the United Nations and the provisions of the Charter of the Organization on peaceful settlement of disputes. The first convention for the peaceful settlement of disputes was adopted at the peace conference in The Hague in 1899, although neither the first nor the second Hague Conference in 1907 failed to set mandatory rules on the peaceful settlement of disputes. Some authors of international disputes divide them into legal and political. Based on these positions, legal disputes are those disputes arising from the proceedings of legislative, judicial and executive branches of the state, its armed forces or individuals living in its territory, as political disputes those resulting from conflicting political interests. Of course, this is all in theory, but in practice it is very difficult to distinguish these cases, or mark them as legal or political. Every political dispute has legal side, as each legal case has political essence.

    Objectives of the course: - Acquainting knowledge about concepts, phenomena and the institutions of local self-government in the Republic of Macedonia, in the region, in EU Member States and in the world; - Acquainting specific knowledge of local government as a science and a legal branch, including a comparative analysis of the situation and perspectives of the same in regional and European domain; Through this module students will be trained on basic theoretical and practical knowledge about the organization, scope, responsibilities, sources of financing of local government and the relationship with the institutions of central government; - Encouraging students’ critical thinking in the fundamental problems of local government in the Republic of Macedonia and within the EU, which will take into account the European Charter of Local Self-Government; - The syllabus will treat the matter from the comparative and national aspect, because in terms of globalization, local governments cannot understand, if considered solely in national terms; - The program in itself will also include: constitution, the Law on Local Self-Government, Law on Territorial Organization and the statutes and decisions of municipalities. - At the end of the course, students will be able to make fundamental and substantive differences between the institutions of local government, their interconnection and their practical operation; - To make the necessary theoretical and practical differences of concepts, phenomena and institutes of the Local Government. - To describe and analyze the various processes and trends of local government in the Republic of Macedonia, region, EU and worldwide.

    Aims of the course: Bankruptcy and bankruptcy proceedings cover all aspects of bankruptcy, both from the matrimonial aspect and from a formal aspect, the reason of initiating a bankruptcy procedure, the ways of initiation, the course of the procedure, the division of the bankruptcy estate, the bankruptcy plan, the completion, as well as bankruptcy with a foreign element.
  • [ELE-701] European Family Law
    The main objective of the this course is to study the changes that some European family law institutions have gone through, concepts that are part of the reform of the family law of the legal system of Republic of North Macedonia: Equal Protection for the illegitimate and legitimate children; the increasing number of divorced parents; legal regulation of the extramarital union; same-sex parent families; marriage in the form of registered partnership; property issue of international couples (marriages and registered partnership); the focus of the Family Law on the rights of children and the responsibilities that each parent has towards their children, rather than on parental rights; Parenthood arising form the new assisted reproductive technologies; the right of the adopted children or children conceived by gamete donation to know their genetic origin vis-à-vis the rights of the donor for anonymity; the children’s family rights with emphasis on the rights guaranteed with the Convention on the rights of child; Joint legal custody and joint physical custody after divorce; The right of the child to express its opinion in any family decision concerning its interests, and the right to be heard in any court and administrative proceedings. Within the framework of this course special focus is given to the role and importance of the Commission on European Family Law related to the harmonisation and the unification of Family law in Europe. To achieve this, the students will be provided with information on the principles of European Family Law and the reports of European states regarding: Divorce/Maintenance reports, Parental Responsibility reports, Property Relations reports and Informal Relationships reports.
  • [ELE-702] New reproductive technology and parental rights
    The main objective of this course is to emphasize the fact that in the modern society, there is no universal, generally accepted model of family and parenting. By studying the subject ‘New reproductive technology and parental rights’, students will gain knowledge about new artificial reproductive technologies that are part of the contemporary natality policy. In more details, students will be introduced to all artificial reproductive technologies of humans, such as artificial insemination, in vitro fertilization, surrogate motherhood, the birth of children from a woman with sperm donation, posthumous reproduction, co-parenting, and ‘three parent' baby technique, cryopreservation of gametes or embryos. Through this course students are expected to develop their critical thinking through the debates on the many moral, ethical and legal dilemmas related to these new technologies for the human reproduction. Students aided by numerous examples, will learn that while in the past the conceiving of a child was simply a biological process, nowadays with the advancement of the technology and biomedicine, child conception has become a planned and conscious process. Planned parenthood and parental responsibility are contemporary concepts which are promoted by numerous international documents and contemporary legislations on family law. By studying this subject, students will learn about a wide variety of opportunities for fertilization that are applied in large parts of Western European countries where family establishment is considered a personal choice of individuals/ partnerships.
  • [ELE-704] Constitutionalism and Human Rights
    The purpose of this course program is to elaborate the theoretical and practical aspects of human rights. The subject program is designed to analyze the ideas of human rights, human rights theories, the classification of human rights and the legal framework for each specific human right in the Republic of North Macedonia. Special emphasis is given to: the right to life, the right to freedom, the integrity of the human personality, the right to defense, the right to a fair trial, the right to legal security, the right to privacy, the right to appeal, freedom of thought and conviction, freedom of association, freedom of public assembly, voting right, right to property, freedom of work and the right to work, right to education, etc. The academic analysis of the mechanisms for protection of human rights will also be provided to the Constitutional Court, the regular courts in the RNM, as well as to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. The purpose of this course program is to enable students to gain in-depth knowledge in the field of human rights and to apply this knowledge in practice, as well as to develop their own analytical and critical skills while at the same time explaining the theoretical aspects of human rights and their application in practice, and in particular: - to understand the concept of human rights; -to understand the classification of human rights: civil liberties and rights, political freedoms and rights, as well as cultural, economic and social rights; - to gain knowledge of the content of specific human rights; -to apply acquired knowledge to specific situations of enjoyment or violation of human rights, and -to make a critical analysis of the situation with human rights in the Republic of North Macedonia, and comparatively in the EU, the European Council, as well as with other countries.
  • [ELE043] Introduction to American Law
    The main goal of this course is to give a general overview of the American legal system. Students should be able to understand the legal principles and rules on which American law is based, to recognize how the American legal order is structured, how American lawyers resonate, and how law is taught at American universities. The course aims to stimulate a critical awareness of the content and values upon which the American legal order is based.
  • [ELE-706] National History of the Law
    Through this elective course, students are expected to understand the development of Albanian and Macedonian law, including the most important legal institutes and their main features in a historical context. The study of these institutes begins in the ancient period, and continues to this day. Regarding the law, topics such as: legal systems that have been applied in parallel in these territories, the development of legal branches, such as family, inheritance, property and criminal law will be analyzed. An important part of this course is the analysis of legal institutes of customary law as an important legal monument and an important part of the cultural heritage, which was applied in parallel with the positive law. Students are expected to: • have basic knowledge about the historical development of Albanian and Macedonian law; • identify the most important institutes of civil and criminal law, sources and types of law; • acquire solid knowledge of customary law and its institutes; • interpret the causal relation of processes, phenomena and events during the development of law.
  • [ELE006] International Humanitarian Law
    In the context of this module, the focus will be on the fundamental institutions of international law in armed conflicts, which covers internal armed conflicts and civil wars. Emphasis will be placed on its resources, namely the Geneva Conventions on international humanitarian law and additional protocols. In conditions of extremely rapid development of this discipline in order to include multiple internal conflicts and their legal regulation of the humanitarian aspect, special emphasis will be placed in internal armed conflicts.
  • [ELE-707] International Environmental Law
    This course will provide students with opportunities to acquire knowledge of environmental law, starting from international to national law. They will also be provided with opportunities to increase understanding of the international framework, as well as norms and standards on the field of environment, and their implementation and compliance. Thus, environmental law will be taught as an academic discipline, as well as its perspectives and conceptual theoretical and practical problems and concerns that are faced during the process of implementation of the environmental law. The basic aim is to provide students with advanced knowledge on environmental law and to develop their knowledge and skills.
  • [ELE-708] Introduction to Criminalistics
    Criminalistics consists in detecting, clarifying and proving criminal offenses, detecting and identifying perpetrators and preventing criminality. The main purpose of this course is to provide the students of the Faculty of Law with general knowledge on the detection, investigation and clarification of criminal offenses, technique and criminal tactics for detecting and identifying perpetrators etc. Also, within this course, students will be prepared and trained to use criminalistics tools and methods to achieve the goals outlined above, and with this, in general, their knowledge on criminal law and criminalistics would be shaped. It is an imperative that a new jurist tomorrow in the profession of judge, prosecutor, lawyer etc. also have knowledge from criminalistics in order to better and adequately perform his work.
  • [ELE-709] Law on Execution of Criminal Sanctions
    The purpose of this course is for students to gain theoretical and practical knowledge on issues related to the execution of penal sanctions regulated by the Law on Execution of Criminal Sanctions of our country and beyond. The subject of Penology is studied and its main institutions, issues and contemporary trends, the influence of various factors in the execution of criminal sanctions, penological examination regarding the punishment imposed as well as identifying and analyzing penological contemporary issues.
