  The course focuses on the basic phonological concepts, like the inventory and distribution of English phonemes, allophones, their characteristics, the morph-phonology, the syllable structure and the syllable characteristics. It also focuses on the acoustic, articulatory, and auditive phonetics, including description and classification of English consonants, and simple and complex vowels.

  Course objectives: Knowledge and understanding: There is knowledge and understanding of the correct use of tense, comparison of adjectives, indirect speech, infinitive and logical assumptions. There are grammatical and vocabulary competences in discussions on different social themes and contents. Applying knowledge and understanding: The student is able to apply their knowledge in a variety of communicative situations and respond with a high dose of linguistic precision on various topics of debate. It has the knowledge to ask and express, confront and speculate ideas, offers and challenge ideas, and suggest ideas. Communication skills: The student is able to initiate and retain a discussion with a satisfactory dose of tangle. He/she has knowledge and competence to write a well-organized paragraph, and well organized written correspondence. The student has developed skills which enable effective reading. Assessment: The student is capable of using rules different grammatical forms, such as times, verbal constructions, idioms and others. He / she is capable of expressing well-organized thoughts on various topics of debate. Learning skills: Students have developed skills for independent learning through various interactive tools. They are able to find resources for further learning and to improve the four skills (reading, listening, writing and speaking).

  The subject aims to enable students to use language skills in the context of academic writing which includes writing an academic paragraph essay and essays that explain the problem and offer a solution to compare and contrast situations and problems and justify thesis or opinion. Furthermore, students should be able to listen and read and understand the essence and details, and to successfully write a paragraph and an essay in which you argue their opinions. They should express their views and opinions by justifying it in a given paragraph or essay. They also need to organize their ideas and to successfully write a paragraph and essay that explain the problem and propose a solution, which provides details, facts and arguments, quoted and cited sources. They should be able to identify main ideas and details in the text, objectives and messages of text, as well as ways of organize text and apply in writing. In advanced stages, the students are expected to switch to writing more complex academic tasks, such as academic paper with a literature review, research, conclusions and recommendations.

  Course objectives: • Knowledge and understanding of students: • Use of previous studies poetry and prose of critical approach towards different plays; • Connecting development of English drama with historical and the cultural background they have made. Applying knowledge and understanding: • Use of appropriate critical terminology in writing and speaking; • Checking the great features and the specific details of the field. Making judgment: • Analyze the dramatic works as literary works and as performance; • Detecting, analyzing and interpreting the major differences between great playwrights. Communication skills: • Reads the original works in English; • Compares research and writes an essay with the same presentation order with colleagues; • Forms, performances, support of critical opinions of the text in discussions with the instructor and peers. Learning skills: • Reads the works as a text and as a performance; • Appropriate hour discussion, personal interpretation and independent research essay; • Use of informational performance, influence and deep textual understanding.

    Upon completion of the course Macedonian for Professional Purposes 1, students are expected to broaden and strengthen their abilities for more advanced written and oral expression in Macedonian in the context of the different professional settings. Students are expected to be able to read, write and comprehend various professional texts in Macedonian. They are also expected to acquire knowledge and skills about the general terminology from the field of law, business and economy, administration, computer sciences, language and communication and to be able to use that terminology in the framework of their future professions. Besides accomplishing these professional aims, students are expected to become more autonomous language learners and be able to think critically about different topics in a multilingual and multicultural environment.

    Upon completion of the course, Macedonian for professional purposes 2, students are expected to reconfirm and expand further their abilities for advanced written and oral expression in Macedonian, in the context of their future professions. They should be able to read, write and comprehend different kinds of professional texts in Macedonian, to analyse and discuss those texts, as well as to create their own documents, including professional biography in Macedonian (CV). They should also expand the knowledge of specific terminology from the field of law, business and economy, administration, computer sciences, language and communication and be able to use that terminology in simulation of authentic situations from the professional environment, in debates and exchange of opinion regarding different aspects of these professions.

    Програмата за предметот Македонски јазик за почетници 1 опфаќа: читање, пишување, слушање и зборување. Преку посебни вежби и предавања се овозможува запознавање со основната комуникација на македонскиот јазик, т.е. запознавање, поздравување, претставување, збогатување на зборовниот фонд и пишување и разбирање кратки текстови. При создавањето на програмата се води сметка студентите стекнатите знаења да можат да ги применуваат и понатаму. Материјалот се обработува по принципот на комбинирани предавања и вежби, како и континуирани задачи, преку кои студентите активно се вклучени за време на часот и учествуваат со свои прашања и предлози во креирањето на часот. The programme Macedonian Language for beginners 1: reading, writing, listening and speaking. Through special exercises and lectures introduction to basic communication in Macedonian language is provided, i.e. introducing, greeting, presentation, enriching vocabulary and write and understand short texts. When we created this program we took into the consideration that students can apply the acquired knowledge further. The material is processed under the principle of combined lectures and exercises, and continuous tasks through which students are actively involved during class and participate with their questions and suggestions.

    The programme Macedonian Language for beginners 2 includes: reading, writing, listening and speaking activities. In this course the following issues are covered: daily routines, planning activities for the next period, description of persons, places and objects. When we created this program we took into the consideration that students can apply the acquired knowledge further.

    Albanian Language course for beginners 1 is prepared with the purpose to enable the students, who do not have basic knowledge of the Albanian language, to get to know the characteristics of this language, to gain knowledge of the linguistic structure of the Albanian language, and to extend and apply their knowledge in everyday situations. Correspondingly, they will gain knowledge on the structure of the Albanian language, will overcome a modest set of various lexical and grammatical categories which will enable simple conversations. Even though, it is a second level course for beginners, the course is designed to be flexible and to adapt to the capabilities and interests of students.

    Upon completion of this course, the students will gain knowledge about the communication process, the ethical responsibilities of public speaking and the different types of informative and persuasive speeches. In addition, the students will acquire skills necessary for preparing and delivering different types of speeches, audience analysis, researching speech topics, preparing speeches etc. After completing the Public Speaking course, the students will be able to think critically through constructive self-criticism and criticism towards the speeches of the others.
  • [EFE-127] Debate and Presentation Skills
    Through this course students will; gain tools for arguing effectively and developing their confidence in front of an audience; construct, develop, and practice presenting arguments in a variety of ways including - individual, pair and group presentation; learn to use persuasive rhetoric to put forward logical arguments in support of a position on a current issue; become familiar with the stages of formal debate, specifically the British Parliamentary style;
  • [EFE-108] Intercultural Studies
    Having completed this course the students will able to identify global questions and problems from the perspectives of different cultures, the communication dynamics in the other cultures, the similarities and the differences between their values and those of other cultures, as well as the similarities and differences between their communication practices and those from other cultures. In addition, students are expected to become more aware of the stereotypes that society has for different cultures and as a result will better understand their place in the global community. The students will start thinking critically about topics related to their ethnicity, gender identity, class, religion, national origin, age and other demographic characteristics and their impact on the communication process. After finishing Intercultural Studies, the students will also gain communication skills for working in groups through participation in research projects and will acquire the necessary skills to present their research projects.

    The course Communication Skills is designed to enable students to practically apply interpersonal communication. Students will have the opportunity to learn interpersonal skills (such as perception, listening, verbal and non-verbal communication); public speaking (such as organization, delivery and the basics of writing public speeches) and small group communication (such as leadership, self-confidence and listening). The course will also focus on providing basic knowledge and understanding of the job hunting process through written and oral communication by doing tasks such as writing a resume and a cover letter, conducting interview simulations etc.

    The purpose of this course is to provide the students with advanced knowledge of this application and of the opportunities offered by the Microsoft Excel application, as well as to enable them to carry out advanced tasks, which are associated with their faculty’s program.

    The aims of this course are: To enable students to acquire basic knowledge and skills in the field of information sciences; To enable the students to acquire theoretical and practical knowledge in Microsoft Office applications (Windows, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access) and to apply them in real life situations; To enable the students to work individually or in groups on practical projects.

    The aim of this course is to enable the students to acquire advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint and to familiarize them with the opportunities, which are offered by them. Moreover, it will enable the students to independently implement various projects and specific complex tasks, which are associated with the program in which they study.

    The aims of this course are: To enable the students to acquire advanced knowledge and skills in the field of electronic services (cloud applications); To enable the students to acquire theoretical and practical knowledge in Google Docs (G-mail, Documents, Spreadsheets, Presentations, Drawings and Forms) and to apply them in real life; To enable the students to work individually or in groups on various online projects, directly through the web browser.

    Databases are ideal tools for tracking large volumes of Data and Microsoft Access is a quite popular and powerful tool, which is used for designing and developing Windows-based databases. This course is intended for new users of Access where the most important functions needed for working with databases are processed.

    The aim of this course is designing and processing raster and vector graphics through the leading programs Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, as well as designing and publishing commercial materials for print using Adobe InDesign.
  • [EFE-116] Web Publications
    Developing even a simple web page according to current standards requires knowledge of Hypertext Markup Language (XHTML) and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). Most of the websites also use images, whether in the form of banners, buttons, logos, photos or scans. Adobe Fireworks is built as a tool to create and manipulate images from the web and to allow the makers to optimize these images in order to reduce the file size. Firework also provides an excellent integration with Dreamweaver. This series provides a comprehensive introduction to XHTML, CSS and creating web graphics.
  • [EFE-129] Albanian Language and Writing Culture
    The course, Albanian language and writing culture, is a synthesis of rules and guidelines for improvement of the skills for written and oral expression in Albanian. Students are expected to improve these skills by becoming familiar with the spelling and punctuation rules, some morphological norms, as well as the Albanian syntax, all in order to achieve proper use of the language. An accent will be put on motivating them for fluent speaking and raising their awareness for use of the Albanian pure standard language. A special attention will also be paid to encouraging students to advance the process of writing and increasing their understanding about the differences between specific genres. The issue of academic integrity (plagiarism) will also be tackled, as well as the specific terminology of the different areas of specialization. All these topics will be offered as separate lessons, that is, as rules, guidelines and exercises, which complement each other.

    The subject aims at improving and perfecting the expression of Albanian language (speaking and writing). Specifically, the course aims to introduce students to specific terms, the possibilities of its use, with the most common errors in daily speech, but also for communication in specific circumstances. The students will learn about the conditions in which the rules work, so they can use them not only for tasks related to the subject but also in their future profession.

    In this course, students’ academic writing skills will be enhanced in a variety of ways. Students will be enabled to communicate their ideas in a clear, fluent and effective way in order to produce a piece of writing. Students’ academic writing skills will be developed through activities that promote writing like: writing different types of paragraphs and essays. In addition, students will be introduced to paraphrasing and citing rules as well as will be made aware of what plagiarism is. Giving feedback on students’ pieces of writing will involve self-correction, peer-correction and teacher-correction of content, organization and language errors.

    After finishing the Academic Writing in the Macedonian course, the students are expected to gain appropriate knowledge and advanced communication in Macedonian language with particular emphasis on writing skills. They will be able to reflect critically on different topics, to make conclusions and they will develop skills for excellent written and oral communication in Macedonian.

    By the end of each level, the students are expected to write an essay and a research paper based on the rules learned during the semester. Specifically, from them it is expected to know the function, the structure and the different types of paragraphs, ways of choosing research topics, collecting the material, the rules for source documentation and the final model.
  • [EFE-105] German Language (level 1 to 4)
    After completing each level, students will be able to gain appropriate knowledge according to the European Language Framework (specifically and concretely determined by level). In addition, students are expected to become more autonomous and more responsible language learners. By the end of the course, students will be able to think critically and make conclusions about different topics based on the texts that they have read, as well as to express their thoughts and opinions in written and spoken German.

    The aims of this course are: To familiarize the students with the basic environmental problems; To familiarize the students with the role of humans as the key factor in the process of pollution and environmental protection; To familiarize the students with the influence of various environmental pollutants on health, the professional activity and the organizational ability of the human factor; Creating positive habits for the environment and raising the awareness for a healthier and cleaner environment; International and national legislation and international conventions on the environment; Introduction to international and national global policies in the field of environment; The environment as a condition for sustainable economic development; The role of the society in the protection of the environment; Introducing the major risks to a healthy environment; Introducing the National Environmental Strategy of the Republic of Macedonia.

    This course offers practical, results-oriented instruction for seeking, obtaining and keeping employment. It is intended to provide students with the appropriate job skills needed in the modern workplace. Specific tasks that will be covered will be composing an effective c.v., writing a letter of inquiry/interest, interviewing skills, and formal communication within the office (memos, formal emails to superiors or customers, reports, etc.). Additional elements that will be covered will be how to conduct a self-evaluation, how to manage inter-office conflict, and how to seek promotions actively. Although the primary focus of this course will be on white-collar employment, the skills obtained through the instruction are applicable to the job search process generally.
  • [EFE-132] Human Rights and Freedoms
    The struggle for human rights begins with the historic efforts to identify them. Over the time, the corpus of rights and freedoms that are incriminated by laws or international treaties is expanding but it certainly does not prove that the same are respected in practice. Human rights at the first were considered as internal matters of states (under the principle of absolute sovereignty of states) and only in more recent times have gained the title of jus cogens norms. This course will study how to develop doctrine on human rights, types and categories of human rights and will be studied the relevant documents that regulate certain rights. The purpose of this course is: to introduce students to the concept of international law on human rights, implementation of the same, influence in the formulation of national policies; This will encourage students to critically reflect on the relationship between international law and national law; make them aware of current international events, how they affect the daily lives of people in the world; encourage students to contribute in matters of drafting laws for the protection of human rights.

Has the knowledge to express interest and concern, expressed assumption, to ask and express interest to appeal, apologize, repeat and confirm. Communication skills: The student is able to initiate and retain a discussion with a satisfactory dose of tangle. Has knowledge and competence to write the essay in a well organized written correspondence. The student has developed skills which enable effective reading. Making judgment: The student is capable of using rules of different grammatical forms, such as times, verbal constructions, idioms and others. He / she is capable of expressing well-organized thoughts on various topics of debate such as crime, fashion, weather, ecology, technology, etc. Learning skills: Students have developed skills for independent learning through various interactive tools.   The course is concentrated on the morphological characteristics of the English language. It also includes the grammatical categories and other word functions of the student’s mother tongue like: nouns, pronouns, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, the definite and indefinite articles, conjunction, numbers and exclamation. Special attention is paid to the form and function of the above mentioned parts of speech.

  Course objectives: Knowledge and understanding: • Using and understanding of appropriate critical vocabulary associated with poetry and poetic models; • Employment of critical skills in the interpretation of poetic texts; • Demonstrate historical understanding of poets, their lives, their styles and their achievements. Application of knowledge and understanding: • Introduction and evaluation of the development of English poetry from Chaucer and Larkin. • Identifying similar themes in poetry and analyzing various treatments. • Linking specific genres, styles and movements with suitable crops in specific chronological periods. Making judgment: • Identifying the different levels of removal in poetry writing. • Generating and articulating interpreted praise songs. • Assess the adequacy of concerned metrical form. An accent will be put on motivating them for fluent speaking and raising their awareness for use of the Albanian pure standard language. Additional elements that will be covered will be how to conduct a self-evaluation, how to manage inter-office conflict, and how to seek promotions actively. Although the primary focus of this course will be on white-collar employment, the skills obtained through the instruction are applicable to the job search process generally.

    The struggle for human rights begins with the historic efforts to identify them. Over the time, the corpus of rights and freedoms that are incriminated by laws or international treaties is expanding but it certainly does not prove that the same are respected in practice. Human rights at the first were considered as internal matters of states (under the principle of absolute sovereignty of states) and only in more recent times have gained the title of jus cogens norms. This course will study how to develop doctrine on human rights, types and categories of human rights and will be studied the relevant documents that regulate certain rights. The purpose of this course is: to introduce students to the concept of international law on human rights, implementation of the same, influence in the formulation of national policies; This will encourage students to critically reflect on the relationship between international law and national law; make them aware of current international events, how they affect the daily lives of people in the world; encourage students to contribute in matters of drafting laws for the protection of human rights.

The included topics are: the process of SLA, the influence of the learner’s age, motivation, attitude, aptitude, individual learning strategies in this process, the role of the mother tongue and the foreign language in learning, communication skills, errors and error analysis, critical period hypothesis, strategy training.

This course also focuses on preparing classes: creating lesson plans for the young people, classroom management and assessing the young learners (grades, feedback).   The course investigates the methods, techniques, approaches and theories of translation. It gives instructions for successful translation and at the same time it gives instructions for uninterrupted interpretation. The focus is on translating literary texts like prose and poems, other documents are analysed and translated like newspaper articles, official documents and professional texts from the field of business, law, and administration. The course also examines the ethic, morale, and responsible translation.

  This course aims to introduce the students to the basic principles and needs to prepare and apply the process of assessment.   The main aim is to help student conduct research on a self-chosen topic in the field of English Language. The Capstone project must provide a detailed and substantiated account of the thematic, methodological and theoretical basis for the work. In addition to this, the capstone project should follow the basic principles of research ethics.

Applying knowledge and Understanding: - Solid comprehension of the central topics, concepts and controversies related to multicultural theories; - Aquiring academic skills which are necessary in the fulfilment of academic criteria - Introduction to the various perspectives and themes from the sphere of multiculturalism as theory, politics and practice. Making judgments: - Capacity to evaluate the arguments of the authors that will be discussed - Ability to analize, evaluate, and respect the diverse perspectives regarding multicultural policies. The relation between the lexemes (collocations, idioms, polysemy, synonyms, metaphor). Usage of words (cohesion, idioms, cliché, sayings). The varieties of the English dictionary. The formal dictionary versus collocations. Fake friends, national etymology and other problematic words.

    The aim of the subject is to include all students that may be facing mental and/or physical disorders and limitations. The Ministry of Education and Science aims at providing equal learning opportunities for everyone, because handicapped students can learn and perform better when they are in association of their peers, rather than separated from the group. These students need to be treated by using special working forms, means and methods. The disabilities may include vision, hearing, cerebral palsy, etc., diagnosed by their doctor.

Students will gain a theoretical basis and general strategies that develop thinking and their ability to reflect the opinion, a process often referred to as metacognition, students will learn about the different strategies that encourage teaching and about the opinion also they will have the task to design and evaluate their strategies. To encourage reflective thinking and metacognitive knowledge among students, participants will have the opportunity to inform the development, learning, teaching, habits, critical thinking and the process of solving problems. The included topics are: writing genres, types of research in academic writing, writing style, in-text citing, understanding and using argument, discussion of results and developing topic.

    This course introduces students to the field of second language acquisition (SLA). Students get a good basis of the SLA theory and training for the most recent methodological aids in this field. A considerable amount of time will be devoted to the similarities and differences between the acquisition of the mother tongue and the foreign language, and students will have an opportunity to reflect on their own learning experiences. The included topics are: the process of SLA, the influence of the learner’s age, motivation, attitude, aptitude, individual learning strategies in this process, the role of the mother tongue and the foreign language in learning, communication skills, errors and error analysis, critical period hypothesis, strategy training.

    The course enables new information related to teaching vocabulary in the EFL classroom. It includes a description of how vocabulary is learned, how it is used in speaking and writing and discussions for the current best practices of teaching vocabulary. Specific questions related to this course are: what does it mean to know a word, how many words are there, which words should be learned, explicitly against the random learning of vocabulary, the importance of reading in learning vocabulary, strategies for learning vocabulary, vocabulary teaching techniques and vocabulary testing.

    Teaching English to young people is a course wich introduces students to the specific world of teaching young people, and it intents to help them become good teachers in general and in particular to prepare them for the opportunities and challenges that they will face. This course offers the basics of teaching: Principles and challenges. Research in the local context- Learning in Macedonia. This course also focuses on preparing classes: creating lesson plans for the young people, classroom management and assessing the young learners (grades, feedback). This course investigates the activities during a class from a communicative aspect.

    Students are expected to improve their understanding of basic principles of text analysis and some popular theories related to translation of specific texts from the field of law. They are also expected to identify and determine the best translation strategies for specific professional purposes. Through practical work on different types of texts, they are expected to be able to apply their theoretical knowledge of translation theory and practice for improving their analytical skills and understanding of all factors that influence the translation of specific legal texts.

    Having completed this course the students will able to identify global questions and problems from the perspectives of different cultures, the communication dynamics in the other cultures, the similarities and the differences between their values and those of other cultures, as well as the similarities and differences between their communication practices and those from other cultures. In addition, students are expected to become more aware of the stereotypes that society has for different cultures and as a result will better understand their place in the global community. The students will start thinking critically about topics related to their ethnicity, gender identity, class, religion, national origin, age and other demographic characteristics and their impact on the communication process. After finishing Intercultural Studies, the students will also gain communication skills for working in groups through participation in research projects and will acquire the necessary skills to present their research projects.

    Developing even a simple web page according to current standards requires knowledge of Hypertext Markup Language (XHTML) and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). Most of the websites also use images, whether in the form of banners, buttons, logos, photos or scans. Adobe Fireworks is built as a tool to create and manipulate images from the web and to allow the makers to optimize these images in order to reduce the file size. Firework also provides an excellent integration with Dreamweaver. This series provides a comprehensive introduction to XHTML, CSS and creating web graphics.
  • [EFE-129] Albanian Language and Writing Culture
    The course, Albanian language and writing culture, is a synthesis of rules and guidelines for improvement of the skills for written and oral expression in Albanian. Students are expected to improve these skills by becoming familiar with the spelling and punctuation rules, some morphological norms, as well as the Albanian syntax, all in order to achieve proper use of the language. An accent will be put on motivating them for fluent speaking and raising their awareness for use of the Albanian pure standard language. A special attention will also be paid to encouraging students to advance the process of writing and increasing their understanding about the differences between specific genres. The issue of academic integrity (plagiarism) will also be tackled, as well as the specific terminology of the different areas of specialization. All these topics will be offered as separate lessons, that is, as rules, guidelines and exercises, which complement each other.

    The subject aims at improving and perfecting the expression of Albanian language (speaking and writing). Specifically, the course aims to introduce students to specific terms, the possibilities of its use, with the most common errors in daily speech, but also for communication in specific circumstances. The students will learn about the conditions in which the rules work, so they can use them not only for tasks related to the subject but also in their future profession.

    In this course, students’ academic writing skills will be enhanced in a variety of ways. Students will be enabled to communicate their ideas in a clear, fluent and effective way in order to produce a piece of writing. Students’ academic writing skills will be developed through activities that promote writing like: writing different types of paragraphs and essays. In addition, students will be introduced to paraphrasing and citing rules as well as will be made aware of what plagiarism is. Giving feedback on students’ pieces of writing will involve self-correction, peer-correction and teacher-correction of content, organization and language errors.

    After finishing the Academic Writing in the Macedonian course, the students are expected to gain appropriate knowledge and advanced communication in Macedonian language with particular emphasis on writing skills. In addition, it is expected that students will become more autonomous and responsible learners. Moreover, students will be able to improve their writing skills in more levels and thereby they will become more confident and more competent when writing in Macedonian. They will be able to reflect critically on different topics, to make conclusions and they will develop skills for excellent written and oral communication in Macedonian.

    By the end of each level, the students are expected to write an essay and a research paper based on the rules learned during the semester. Specifically, from them it is expected to know the function, the structure and the different types of paragraphs, ways of choosing research topics, collecting the material, the rules for source documentation and the final model.

    After completing each level, students will be able to gain appropriate knowledge according to the European Language Framework (specifically and concretely determined by level). In addition, students are expected to become more autonomous and more responsible language learners. By the end of the course, students will be able to think critically and make conclusions about different topics based on the texts that they have read, as well as to express their thoughts and opinions in written and spoken German.

    The aims of this course are: To familiarize the students with the basic environmental problems; To familiarize the students with the role of humans as the key factor in the process of pollution and environmental protection; To familiarize the students with the influence of various environmental pollutants on health, the professional activity and the organizational ability of the human factor; Creating positive habits for the environment and raising the awareness for a healthier and cleaner environment; International and national legislation and international conventions on the environment; Introduction to international and national global policies in the field of environment; The environment as a condition for sustainable economic development; The role of the society in the protection of the environment; Introducing the major risks to a healthy environment; Introducing the National Environmental Strategy of the Republic of Macedonia.

    This course offers practical, results-oriented instruction for seeking, obtaining and keeping employment. It is intended to provide students with the appropriate job skills needed in the modern workplace. Specific tasks that will be covered will be composing an effective c.v., writing a letter of inquiry/interest, interviewing skills, and formal communication within the office (memos, formal emails to superiors or customers, reports, etc.). Additional elements that will be covered will be how to conduct a self-evaluation, how to manage inter-office conflict, and how to seek promotions actively. Although the primary focus of this course will be on white-collar employment, the skills obtained through the instruction are applicable to the job search process generally.

    The struggle for human rights begins with the historic efforts to identify them. Over the time, the corpus of rights and freedoms that are incriminated by laws or international treaties is expanding but it certainly does not prove that the same are respected in practice. Human rights at the first were considered as internal matters of states (under the principle of absolute sovereignty of states) and only in more recent times have gained the title of jus cogens norms. This course will study how to develop doctrine on human rights, types and categories of human rights and will be studied the relevant documents that regulate certain rights. The purpose of this course is: to introduce students to the concept of international law on human rights, implementation of the same, influence in the formulation of national policies; This will encourage students to critically reflect on the relationship between international law and national law; make them aware of current international events, how they affect the daily lives of people in the world; encourage students to contribute in matters of drafting laws for the protection of human rights.

    Course aims: Communicative skills: Develop translation and interpreting skills through speaking, listening, reading and writing in order to establish intercommunication Applying knowledge: Producing correct English in speaking and writing; implementing and producing correct structure of the language in which is translated Evaluating knowledge: Reading the text in order to be able to translate it, translating from source into a target language and provide correct translated forms Knowledge and understanding: Adopt the production process of a text, written or spoken, according to the speech variations and different agendas, establish complex communication contexts in translation Learning skills: Apply the principles and practices of translation, and simultaneous and consecutive interpretation.
  • [EEL-613] Multiculturalism in Teaching English Language
    Course objectives: Communication skills: Students should be able to present their opinions regarding culture and globalization and the influence that these processes have in education. They should be able to discuss issues related to the themes of tolerance, understanding, and accommodating diversity. They will also work towards producing essays treating the issues of cultural relativism, stereotypes, prejudices, as well as the development of concepts like intercultural cooperation and multicultural education. Applying knowledge and Understanding: Creating educational models for multicultural cooperation and their application in the process of teaching English as a second language. Developing an educational strategy that would prove succesfull in situations where there might be tensions among students due to the lack of tolerance. Making judgmenets: Ability to make their own individual portfolio based on the principles of multicultural education and capacity to identify cases where there is lack of tolerance, thus aiming at developing the spirit of intercultural cooperation. Knowledge and understanding: Getting to know the basic principles of culture, cultural relativism, intercultural and multicultural education and addressing these issues in the context of teaching English as a foreign language. Learning skills: Learning about efficient models for promotion of multiculturalism in the educational process where learning English plays a crucial role being a neutral language for the students regardless of the ethnic background.
  • [EEL-301] Introduction to Second Language Acquision
    This course introduces students to the field of second language acquisition (SLA). Students get a good basis of the SLA theory and training for the most recent methodological aids in this field. A considerable amount of time will be devoted to the similarities and differences between the acquisition of the mother tongue and the foreign language, and students will have an opportunity to reflect on their own learning experiences. The included topics are: the process of SLA, the influence of the learner’s age, motivation, attitude, aptitude, individual learning strategies in this process, the role of the mother tongue and the foreign language in learning, communication skills, errors and error analysis, critical period hypothesis, strategy training.
  • [EEL-603] Teaching Vocabulary
    The course enables new information related to teaching vocabulary in the EFL classroom. It includes a description of how vocabulary is learned, how it is used in speaking and writing and discussions for the current best practices of teaching vocabulary. Specific questions related to this course are: what does it mean to know a word, how many words are there, which words should be learned, explicitly against the random learning of vocabulary, the importance of reading in learning vocabulary, strategies for learning vocabulary, vocabulary teaching techniques and vocabulary testing.

    The aims of contrastive analysis. The hypothesis related to contrastive analysis. The difficulty hierarchy. The methodology used in contrastive analysis. Contrastive analysis between English and Albanian/Macedonian phonetic and phonological, morphological and syntactical systems. Interlanguage, its roles, transfer, its positive and negative influence in interlanguage. Borrowings, code change and fossilization. The learner error value. Error resource, etc.
  • [EEL-502] Teaching English Language Young Learners
    Teaching English to young people is a course wich introduces students to the specific world of teaching young people, and it intents to help them become good teachers in general and in particular to prepare them for the opportunities and challenges that they will face. This course offers the basics of teaching: Principles and challenges. Research in the local context- Learning in Macedonia. This course also focuses on preparing classes: creating lesson plans for the young people, classroom management and assessing the young learners (grades, feedback). This course investigates the activities during a class from a communicative aspect.
  • [EEL-407] Legal Translation
    Students are expected to improve their understanding of basic principles of text analysis and some popular theories related to translation of specific texts from the field of law. They are also expected to identify and determine the best translation strategies for specific professional purposes. Through practical work on different types of texts, they are expected to be able to apply their theoretical knowledge of translation theory and practice for improving their analytical skills and understanding of all factors that influence the translation of specific legal texts.
  • [EEL-606] Consecutive Translation
    For the students who continue their studies in the field of translation and interpretation the course consecutive translation from language A to language B and vice-versa helps them get skills for consecutive translation to Albanian and English through speaking activities. This course helps them to precisely reproduce the content of original speeches, using the correct terminology and register.
  • [EEl-505] Simultaneous Translation
    Verification of language and speech competencies in Albanian and English, having knowledge of the current dictionary and expressing one’s self mostly by speaking activities. The course is designed in a way which emphasizes the memorization of longer sentences, at the same time it introduces them to the techniques of taking notes. At the end of the semester competencies and performance in Albanian and English, the ability to analyze a text, the communication skills, and other skills will be checked and assessed.
  • [EEL-703] Learning and Cognition in Education
    By the end of the course, students will be able to: become familiar with basic assumptions, concepts, and principles of each theory; grasp possible implications of each theory for different instructional settings; compare and contrast a range of theories in a variety of settings and age groups; create, revise, and begin to use their own personal theory of learning; reflect on how learning theories impact on every aspect of their life; explain the interactions of students, teachers, and materials in classrooms and the implications of these interactions for classroom environments; describe contemporary learners along a continuum of characteristics, i.e., socioeconomic status, ethnicity, gender, ability and discuss the implications of these characteristics for instruction; compare and contrast major theoretical positions on learning; examine motivation and its implications for learning and utilize self assessment for the purpose of self reflection and further professional development.

    Course objectives: Communication skills: - Students should be able to present their opinions regarding culture and globalization and the influence that these process have in education. They will also work towards producing essays treating the issues of cultural relativism, stereotypes, prejudices, as well as the development of concepts like intercultural cooperation and multicultural education. Applying knowledge and Understanding: - Solid comprehension of the central topics, concepts and controversies related to multicultural theories; - Aquiring academic skills which are necessary in the fulfilment of academic criteria - Introduction to the various perspectives and themes from the sphere of multiculturalism as theory, politics and practice. Making judgments: - Capacity to evaluate the arguments of the authors that will be discussed - Ability to analize, evaluate, and respect the diverse perspectives regarding multicultural policies. Knowledge and understanding: - Ability to pose and answer to questions related to the themes of diversity and multiculturalism - Ability to identify the challenges of some of the most important multicultural theories - Ability to apply the critical thinking so as to form and be able to analyze one’s own attitudes towards the versatility of multicultural policies.     The aims of lexicology. The relation of lexicology to the other branches of linguistics. Words and lexemes. Meaning of words. Types of meaning. Alteration of word meanings. Creation of words. The relation between the lexemes (collocations, idioms, polysemy, synonyms, metaphor). Usage of words (cohesion, idioms, cliché, sayings). The varieties of the English dictionary. The formal dictionary versus collocations. Fake friends, national etymology and other problematic words.
  • [LCC-803] Inclusion of Special Needs Students
    The aim of the subject is to include all students that may be facing mental and/or physical disorders and limitations. The Ministry of Education and Science aims at providing equal learning opportunities for everyone, because handicapped students can learn and perform better when they are in association of their peers, rather than separated from the group. These students need to be treated by using special working forms, means and methods. The disabilities may include vision, hearing, cerebral palsy, etc., diagnosed by their doctor.
