  Students will gain knowledge in the field of pathogenesis, clinical picture and therapy of the most common diseases and conditions that occur in the geriatric population with all the specifics of this age group. Special attention is paid to preventive medicine measures and procedures. Part of the teaching is dedicated to the ways of educating the family members of the elderly who need long-term or palliative care. Students will acquaint skills from the health care process such as how to approach the elderly patient, triage, health care planning, preventive medical measures and rehabilitation measures.

  The aim of the course is students to gain basic theoretical as well as practical knowledge and knowledge of the basic principles in the field of human physiology, by getting acquainted with the characteristics and function of organs and organ systems in humans and the mechanisms of control.

  Introduction to anatomy as a morphological science, getting acquainted of professional terminology, complete study of the locomotor system of the extremities.     The aim of the course is students to gain knowledge about the assistance of all diagnostic procedures that are applied in the diagnosis of gynecological malignancies. Also, the students should get acquainted with the method of application, the way of informing patients about a certain diagnostic procedure, which is expected from it.

    Aims of the course: Students to acquire the basic theoretical knowledge about the technologies of artificially assisted fertilization procedures in conditions of marital infertility. To be introduced with the term marital infertility, etiological, epidemiological, pathological and correlations of treatment of partner infertility. Meanings for the term, method of obtaining, processing, storage and potential uses of stem cells in the treatment of hematological, internal (diabetes, cardiology) and other potential areas of use (Neurodevelopmental disorders and neurodegenerative diseases, etc.). Cellular perspectives on the treatment of regenerative technologies in medicine (transplants, etc.).

    Academic English is a one semester course which aims to enable the students with skills which can facilitate their language learning and their study progress in an academic teaching and learning environment. The course should enable them to use those skills in both foreign language classroom as well as academic progress in content areas. The course incorporates language skills, study skills and generally applicable skills (listening, delivering oral presentations, constructing arguments) in specific assignments. Therefore, upon successful completion of the course ,the students’ proficiency level should be at C1 according to Common European Framework. As a result, the students should be able to deliver successfully oral presentation, participate in an online debate/ discussion forum stating their opinion and arguments and give feedback to others in a constructive manner. In addition, the students should be able to listen and read for gist and detail and write an argumentative paragraph and essay stating their opinion. They should and write a problem solution paragraph and essay.They should be able to present visual information in a form of Power Point poster presentations. The students should be able to identify main ideas and supporting evidence in a text and to analyse and identify topic sentences in a paragraph. They should be able to identify a purpose of a text, patterns of organization in a text and apply them in their own writing.

    Aims of the course: Through this course, students will develop and improve their understanding and use of medical terminology in the context of health and health care. The development of all four language skills will be facilitated through case studies, dialogues and discussions related to body systems, medications and therapy, recovery and care, as well as medical administration in English. At the same time, the course will focus on the development of students' communication skills in order to ensure accurate and clear communication in English, taking into account the necessary tact and sensitivity in the medical field.

With this students are guided through the most important situations in the workplace in health care institutions, for example admission conversation and medical history, speech situations related to surgery, visits and discharge from the hospital as well as documentation and transfer of measured values from analyzes and so on. Due to their high relevance, students are also trained in the use of computers in the workplace in health care institutions (hospitals, clinics, etc.), telephony, and administration in German. In addition, through this course the students will gain practical language tips for possible misunderstandings and provide them with useful communication strategies

    Albanian Language course for beginners 1 is prepared with the purpose to enable the students, who do not have basic knowledge of the Albanian language, to get to know the characteristics of this language, to gain knowledge of the linguistic structure of the Albanian language, and to extend and apply their knowledge in everyday situations. Correspondingly, they will gain knowledge of the structure of the Albanian language; They will also acquire a modest set of various lexical and grammatical categories which will enable them cary out simple conversations.

    The curriculum for Macedonian Language intermediate level 1 includes: reading, writing, listening and speaking through which the students: will enrich the vocabulary through appropriate texts for daily activities (in a bank, in a library, in a ministry, etc.) and will improve the skills for professional writing and speaking that are necessary for clear and effective communication in their further professional career. A special, continuous emphasis on the overall activity is placed on the linguistic elements, that is, on the spelling and grammar of the Macedonian standard language. Experts as one of the key elements for good written expression state the correct use of language.
  • [MLIL-02] Macedonian Language Intermediate Level 2
    The curriculum for Macedonian Language intermediate level 2 includes: reading, writing, listening and speaking. Special emphasis is placed on the development of students' communication skills, or the use of language in daily activities and professional context, enriching the vocabulary and acquiring knowledge about the structure and types of professional texts. Different communication styles will be covered, with the goal being for students to establish good communication with the audience through their texts and to attract and retain their attention.

    Upon completion of the course Macedonian for Professional Purposes 1, students are expected to broaden and strengthen their abilities for more advanced written and oral expression in Macedonian in the context of the different professional settings. Students are expected to be able to read, write and comprehend various professional texts in Macedonian. They are also expected to acquire knowledge and skills about the general terminology from the field of law, business and economy, administration, computer sciences, language and communication and to be able to use that terminology in the framework of their future professions. Besides accomplishing these professional aims, students are expected to become more autonomous language learners and be able to think critically about different topics in a multilingual and multicultural environment.

    Upon completion of the course, Macedonian for professional purposes 2, students are expected to reconfirm and expand further their abilities for advanced written and oral expression in Macedonian, in the context of their future professions. They should be able to read, write and comprehend different kinds of professional texts in Macedonian, to analyse and discuss those texts, as well as to create their own documents, including professional biography in Macedonian (CV). They should also expand the knowledge of specific terminology from the field of law, business and economy, administration, computer sciences, language and communication and be able to use that terminology in simulation of authentic situations from the professional environment, in debates and exchange of opinion regarding different aspects of these professions.  

Semester 2

  The student acquires basic theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of Public Health and Family Medicine. Solid understanding of the principles of public health and their application at all levels of management in the implementation of health activities. Students will be introduced to the part of primary health care - the role and importance of the family doctor in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases in the population of each age group. Disease prevention as well as rehabilitation and reintegration into the patient's daily life.

  Students to be acquainted with the most basic pharmacokinetic (absorption, distribution, metabolism and elimination of drugs) and pharmacodynamics processes in the human body, the mechanism of action of drugs, the factors that depend on the safety and efficacy of the drug, the dose and factors, drug interactions and side effects, as well as an overview of the most basic characteristics of drugs that are used the most in everyday practice today.   The main goal of the course is r students to get acquainted and gain solid theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of microbiology and basics of immunology .

  Realization of the practical part of the teaching with adequate participation of the students in all parts of the practical teaching in modern classrooms, with modern visual aids, appropriate laboratories in the university and in the health institutions / clinics with which SEEU has concluded cooperation agreements. • The clinical practice is realized starting from the second semester, after the students will acquire the initial theoretical and practical (cabinet) knowledge and skills from the basics of nursing. • The clinical practice will be realized during the summer in public or private health institutions with which Southeast European University has concluded cooperation agreements. • The decision to visit health departments / clinics / offices in order to implement clinical practice will be made based on the subject content of the current academic year. • For the performed clinical practice, the student must keep an appropriate DIARY for clinical practice (according to the Guidelines for ferial practice of RNM (E4E @ mk). • For the realized clinical practice, the student must submit an appropriate CERTIFICATE issued by the institution where the practice was performed. • Clinical practice in each academic year will be developed in certain health institutions with which SEEU has concluded cooperation agreements, respectively the theoretical fields from which students acquire knowledge in accordance with the structure of the study program.

• [C2267] [8 ECTS] Health Care in Surgery, Orthopedics with Traumatology
  Students to get acquainted with the general surgical principles and to master the general surgical principles of the abdomen and thorax. Students will be introduced with the basics of orthopedics and traumatology for nurses / general practitioners.
• [C2268] [6 ECTS] Health Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy
  Through theoretical teaching units, students will be educated on what is rehabilitation medicine, what are its goals, where it is applied and what are the latest recommendations that are practiced in patients with different pathology. In order to define better the material, a brief repetition of the theoretical part in the field of pathogenesis, clinical picture and therapy of the most common diseases and conditions that require rehabilitation is needed. Special attention is paid to defining the role of the nurse in the rehabilitation process. During the internship, students should acquire: skills for proper approach to patients and their triage. Through practical examples they will be involved in the planning and development of individualized rehabilitation plans for patients with different pathologies. Prospective nurse technicians will gain knowledge to support patients during the rehabilitation process.

The development of all four language skills will be facilitated through case studies, dialogues and discussions related to body systems, medications and therapy, recovery and care, as well as medical administration in English. At the same time, the course will focus on the development of students' communication skills in order to ensure accurate and clear communication in English, taking into account the necessary tact and sensitivity in the medical field.

    The aim of this course is the students to acquire language skills in particularly important work situations in the field of medicine, especially oral communication and documentation as well as to understand and use general medical and pharmaceutical terminology. With this students are guided through the most important situations in the workplace in health care institutions, for example admission conversation and medical history, speech situations related to surgery, visits and discharge from the hospital as well as documentation and transfer of measured values from analyzes and so on. Due to their high relevance, students are also trained in the use of computers in the workplace in health care institutions (hospitals, clinics, etc.), telephony, and administration in German. In addition, through this course the students will gain practical language tips for possible misunderstandings and provide them with useful communication strategies

  Elaboration of selected chapters of pediatrics in relation to the specificity of children and adolescents as patients, their proper development, in order to detect pathology and carry out appropriate treatment.

  Students to get acquainted with the basic elements of diagnosis, therapy and prophylaxis of the epidemiology of infectious diseases.

  Students to acquire the basic knowledge about functioning of a healthy person as well as pathologically changed person, professional preparation for the basics of health psychology for nurses and physiotherapists and the implications for communication between patient and professional general care with special attention to care for people with psychological disorders. Students will be provided with theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of medical psychology, knowledge about the impact of psychological factors on health and illness, as well as the impact of illness and somatic difficulties on the development of psychological problems, competencies to support patients, attitude towards health, participation in organization of preventive health programs, maintenance and promotion of mental health, patient approach, application of communication skills to establish contact with the patient. They will be introduced with the basic principles of medical ethics, the patient- doctor and doctor-doctor relationship, social determinants of health, health policies, sociological context of health and disease, stress, domestic violence, violence / child abuse, gender-based violence, community violence.

  Students will get acquainted with the meaning and use of the most modern technical methods in diagnosis and therapy in medicine, with special emphasis on the role of the nurse / technician in the preparation and implementation of the methods.
