“Well prepared with European ideas, Arbën Xhaferi was distinguished by his unreserved commitment to the political and cultural movements of his time. The seriousness and commitment of Arbën Xhaferi was manifested in concrete projects, which he made programmatic models of a cultural and political philosophy with national human rootedness. The time when South East European University was established coincides with a dramatic period of social and political developments in Macedonia. Arbën Xhaferi, who was one of the most important figures with political influence at this time, was a key contributor in establishing South East European University. Here, I must also mention the role of the international community, especially the EU and the USA, without whose help we would not have had this higher education institution”, said Prof. Demush Bajrami, the advisor to the Rector of South East European University, Prof. Dr. Zamir Dika. The speech marked the opening ceremony of the traditional SEEU memorial futsal tournament “Arbën Xhaferi”, which was organized for the second time by the South East European University-Sport Department. It should be emphasized that the tournament is organized in the framework of activities that marked the 13th anniversary of the establishment of this higher education institution in Macedonia.
In this sporting event this year the following futsal teams participated: the national team of Kosovo, the national team of Albanians in Macedonia, FC Shkëndija and the host team “SEE University”.
