The “Max van der Stoel“ Institute wins the first bilateral project from the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs

July 14, 2021, ESPLORADO Project (Development of internationalization and interdisciplinary approach to study programs and research) developed by a team consisting of Veli Kreci, Albulena Halili and Bujar Sinani, within the "Max van der Stoel" Institute at South East European University and Frédéric Spagnoli, Frédéric Peneau and Julia Wyssling from the Franche-Comté University in France, has received the approval of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Europe. The project has been selected from thirty applications from the Western Balkans and will be supported by the Solidarity Fund for Innovative Projects, Civil Society, Francophonie and Human Development operating within this Ministry.

The "ESPLORADO" project, which means "research" in the Esperanto language, envisages an approach in two phases: the first, which has research character aiming in mutual understanding between the participating institutions and their respective scope, while the second is planned with activities that aim to involve students and researchers, in order to extend the activities and open perspectives towards the most advanced development of cooperation.

ESPLORADO constitutes a new chapter in the project portfolio of the South East European University, since unlike the previous experience, it is a bilateral project. Also, this project is part of France's strategy for the Western Balkans, approved by the Presidency of the French Republic in March 2019, according to which higher education and research should form a common aspect of French soft diplomacy, with the aim of a renewed bilateral engagement of France in this region.

The project is expected to start in the fall of this year and will end in the fall of next year.
