Rector Bexheti, participant at the conference on building institutional capacities of fiscal councils in the countries of the Western Balkans

The purpose of the conference was to build the institutional capacities of fiscal councils in the countries of the Western Balkans.

"The support of the World Bank and the European Commission was the main driver in the creation and constitution of the Fiscal Council in North Macedonia. The role of this independent fiscal institution remains the primary focus for fiscal consolidation and prudent fiscal performance in the country, as it is also one of the main preconditions for fiscal convergence with the EU in the negotiation process and beyond" noted Rector Bexheti.

The Fiscal Council, through information on the actual state of fiscal policy, contributes to promoting greater transparency, responsibility and strengthening the credibility of budget management.
